I just realized my graduation ceremony was yesterday lol, I had already RSVP'd no for 2 reasons: 1. I didn't want to shake the hand of the president. 2. As I said to my academic advisor, I have no interest in participating in the wasteful pomp and circumstance that is the graduation ceremony.

When I worked for Niagara College and attended school I exclusively used a personal Keychron K4 keyboard alongside a Logitech M510 mouse on all devices. So one of the first things I did at work was clean my provided keyboard and mouse. Funny enough... I was delighted to find it's a vintage IBM 😁

Finally got to testing our Mutoh ValueCut (think giant Cricut) with some store use stickers I was running low on. I read the machine manual, looked through our cut server software and had it completing a job when the boss walked in. He was ticked off because no one had to show me how it works 😅

#VintageSewingMachine Meant to mention this earlier. If your pulley wheel motor has a spring, & you aren't going to use it regularly, you can use something like half a clothes pin to keep the pulley wheel off the handwheel. This will prevent a flat spot from forming. If it doesn't

I love this polka but the lyrics always made me uncomfortable, I'm legit starting to plan out a polka album which is definitely a bucket list item, and I'm kind of considering covering this but just replacing them with the lyrics I sing to this melody to/about my cat being a fluffy little bean...

I keep making giant sandwiches, or dagwoods, for lunch because my new job is near a small Italian owned grocery store that has a fantastic deli, side note my first job was actually in the bakery there. But this has affectionately gained me the nickname Panini Man from my boss 😅

At work today I backed up a business critical WD Blue Disk Drive from 2012 that runs XP Embedded with proprietary drivers for a custom FireWire card and attached printer as well as the associated printer controller software. I don't think there's hope for emulating this bare metal connection either.

*Me about to start a job on the cutter* Boss: Do you know how to make a new program? Me: Yep. Boss: Okay, when you're ready let me know, I'll show you how to name it. *Me finished programming and already naming it because I found how earlier* *Boss walks by and sees me* Boss: I hate you...

Love it when a plan comes together... getting there. Just making some final tweaks and proofing.

I got it in my head that it would be nice to have a couple maintenance posters for the flatbed printer at work and have been hyper fixated on making some for myself 😅 they're turning out nice. Still need to make some tweaks but they're almost ready to print. The joy of being a jack of all trades 😅

Me realizing today that my home network, that is built from largely refurbished computers, may actually be more sophisticated than the one at work 😅 I am definitely becoming the resident it guy and I'm kinda okay with that hahaha

My hot take as a computer programmer? We need new standards for phone notifications via web and less apps that should have stayed websites. In this day and age, mobile first ground up web development makes most apps redundant IMO, and I have found so many apps missing website accessible features.

Also, fixed the payment terminal 😅

Me realizing we were still running an XP Professional system at the front desk at work and immediately replacing it with the win11 system they had sitting around because no one knew what to do to get it set up ☠️

I feel like I need to have that awkward convo with my boss soon explaining I'm ADHD, borderline autistic, and have an IQ in the 98th percentile. I still have no idea how to talk about this professionally having only recently gotten a diagnosis haha He keeps asking if there is anything I don't do 😅

Clancy debuted the Cosplay that I made for her. Love how the lemon dress 🍋

Why do people forget to travel on the right-hand side as soon as they get into the convention 🤬. I swear I'm just playing chicken now.

My favourite windows 11 keyboard shortcut is SHIFT+CTRL+WIN+ALT+L It has no consumer based reason to exist and you just know some big wig championed that one.

The programming job market right now in a single LinkedIn post....

The one cannabis store I go to is always very friendly and helpful, even though not all the staff is super knowledgeable they aren't pushy on anything or trying to pretend they are. But I paused confused for a sec when the lady yesterday asked if I only smoked infused pre rolls, I bought regulars 😅

Anime North weekend in Toronto for Clancy, so I'm on con escort duty 🫡

I was reminded how strong the one magnet I have is the hard way yesterday. Picked it up and as I turned I got a little too close to my metal ruler and suffice to say I won't be using the two around each other again. Luckily only cut the tip of my index finger from it smashing my nail. Careful kids!

Also the more I think about this. This is also my first playthrough on an open world game on ADHD medication and oh my god do I ever feel less overwhelmed.

I'm on my 3rd playthrough of story mode for Red Dead Redemption 2. love it. After playing through my 2nd and still feeling like I rushed Arthur I really hammered in some time in the epilogue and I finally feel comfortable with the mechanics and have got the controls and camera dialed to preference.

Pissed off my boss in a good way today. Yesterday I met with the regular tech to go over our Océ machine. Since it's an older model Fujifilm we're SOL for OEM parts. Managed to source two parts that were giving them trouble sourcing and the look I got when the Amazon order showed up was priceless 😅

Told my boss I could print and assemble pull up banners alone, having had to do them like that as a merchandiser when they broke. Him walking in and seeing me complete a second: You're able to do it by yourself? How come it used to take two people? Me: Good question...That, I can't answer... 😅

Got jokingly called out by my new boss today for not listing in my resume some of my relevant experience and I admitted I did not properly tailor my resume for the job, but thanked him again for taking me on. This is my polymath struggle though, either people think I'm bullshitting or overqualified.

So this week is my second week at my new job as a large format sign printer for a local family owned business and I'm happy to say it's such a better fit and I'm picking it up rapidly. Settling into the new environment and am feeling so relieved to have found a new job doing work that I enjoy!

Watched someone make a right turn from a left lane in front of a cop on my commute to work. Of course the cop did nothing and kept driving like it didn't happen.
