My solidarity with survivors and feminists, who are seeing an extraordinary post-Me Too backlash and retrenchment.

I don’t understand why people are dragging Kamala Harris into this conflict with Iran. She’s not the president. Also, people conveniently forget that Netanyahu didn’t want her elected. Even so, if she did what Trump did, Republicans would be tripping over themselves to file impeachment articles.

Trump’s war. Trump’s gas prices.

Jeff Bezos: "We are going to be writing every day in support and defense of two pillars: personal liberties and free markets." Today's Washington Post opinion page:

Beyond parody at this point; the week these guys picked sex predators and warmongers over your future

who would the New York Times and Wall Street want in charge of New York's fire department: an upstart young firefighter or a serial arsonist? The answer may surprise you

Former President Bill Clinton, who was first elected governor at 32 years old, says that 33-year-old Zohran Mamdani doesn't have enough experience to be NYC mayor.

I'm glad Menendez was forced out & now faces the legal consequences of his corruption & treason. But I don't understand a system in which this happens, while the Republican President of the United States commits the same crimes, on a level orders of magnitude worse, & faces no consequences at all.

They’re preemptively trying to blame Biden for any attacks on Americans that result from Trump’s war. Absolutely desperate.

Kind of wild that in the final 24 hours or so of preparation for war with Iran, the Vice President took time to travel all the way to Los Angeles to publicly make a racial slur against a United States Senator

Joe's point accompanying Jeff's thread is critical. Let's not beat around the bush. Iran would not have been attacked if they had a nuke. They know it. (North Korea knows it. Ukraine has learned it from hard experience.) They didn't just kick the hornets nest, they may have triggered a new arms race

NYTimes has a long history of holding conservatives—including its paid columnists, like Stephens here—to absolutely no standards whatsoever, but still worth noting the complete lack of ethics required to not mention how 99.99% of Iran's uranium stockpile was due to Trump withdrawing from JCPOA.

honestly does seem like the basic dynamic in american politics right now is that a critical number of voters treat Democrats like their (nagging) mom or their (bitch) wife and treat Republicans like the “cool” dad or husband who is at best a deadbeat

Totally accurate. And then you've got the media off to the side making it seem like the way to not get hit is to keep quiet and do what daddy says.

What stage of creeping authoritarianism is it when we have masked secret police with no identification beating and kidnapping minorities in the streets to force them into prison camps with no rights and no due process? Seems like … a bad stage?

this is about not briefing the intel committees and what he's describing is autocracy

The Ayatollah’s biggest mistake? Not going on Joe Rogan.

Release the Epstein report.

Everything that’s wrong with the Dem establishment in one move. Gross. Out of touch. Offensive. Bad for New York. Bad for Dems.

Not sure what to do about the fact that this country’s latest illegal war is being waged by a presidential administration that consists, top to bottom, of people who lie about everything, all the time

at least he didn't do something truly reckless like try to forgive student loans

tbf this has been every president’s belief since at least reagan

Trump bombing Iran was illegal and unjustified. I ran for Congress to make sure our leaders consider the true costs of war. And I will be in the Senate, standing on my titanium legs, demanding answers from Trump. My statement:

Correct. When Trump withdrew from the JCPOA in May 2018, he made it the policy of the United States that every country should have an active nuclear weapons program. Today he made it clear they need to develop functional nuclear weapons as soon as possible. Nothing else can prevent a U.S. attack.

make no mistake, we are Israel’s henchman. this is a sign of profound weakness on the part of the US

Donald Trump is an extremely stupid man with very few real policy preferences who has simply done what mainstream conservatives have wanted 80-90% of the time since he has entered politics. They have wanted to bomb Iran. He bombed Iran. Pretty straightforward.

Something I’d note is that while there is criminal immunity for “official acts” for the president, no such immunity exists for the deputy chief of staff.

Millennials are 40.

can’t overstate how shoddy the actual work is. “the framers didn’t think black people counted in the constitutional order” falls apart with a single question: “well what did they think about all the free blacks that most of them lived around, encountered, and even hired for work?”

A big point in my Founders in American memory class is that the visual culture of the 19th century whitewashed the era of the revolution out of recognition. I ask students if there were Black soldiers at Yorktown and if anything they describe back the Trumbull painting.

this is such an important point. i do not think that the typical american understands that for most of their lives, someone like james madison or george washington or thomas jefferson was *surrounded* by black people.

WHO IS THE ADMINISTRATOR OF POTUS????? www.wsj.com/politics/pol...

amtrak’s marketing team gets it

The right has wanted preferential treatment for their ideas and progeny at Ivy League universities for a long time but couldn’t achieve it on merit, so they achieved it by force. But they are destroying the very thing they covet: the sense of superiority coming from rising above the best.

This.

Thanks to “institutional neutrality” an African American law prof couldn’t offer a course with “inequality” in the title, but a self-described white nationalist could win a prize for writing a paper that reads like a Klan manifesto.

"One former student, who graduated in May, had his post-graduation job offer rescinded by a large law firm when he told them he had spoken to The New York Times for this article, criticizing Mr. Damsky’s paper and Judge Badalamenti for granting him the award" Wtf

a sitting federal judge — appointed by trump of course — awarded a student for a paper that basically says dred scott was right and should have gone further

“I just find it fascinating that this student can write [a racist] article, a series of [racist] articles that are essentially manifestoes, and that’s free speech,” Ms. Chatman said, “but my class can’t be called ‘Race, Entrepreneurship and Inequality.’”

“I’m an eleven, but continue.”
