Would it make sense for Canada to fight Trump's trade war by imposing export tariffs/taxes on goods sold into the US instead of tariffs/taxes on their own people on goods bought from the US? Make the cost of lumber, steel, maple syrup, energy etc more expensive to the "enemy".

Re: Trump's tariffs ... Not a fully baked idea; but rather than imposing tariff taxes on their citizens, why not retaliate by imposing embargos on various trade goods going into the US. Oil and Energy, maple syrup, automobiles, minerals, fruits and vegetables. Painful? Yes, probably, but effective??
