it is absolutely true that lincoln tried not to get too far afield of public opinion on slavery, calibrating his positions and actions according to what he thought was the mainstream. but it is important to note that at no point did lincoln ever disavow or deny his *sincerely held antislavery views*

Also a great sign that these people do not care about things normal Americans care about, like sports. Because if you watched any game featuring a team from a swing state last year you'd be pretty clued into the campaigns messaging

I watched large portions of this segment and at one point @mattyglesias.bsky.social threw up this slide, said Dems are "making bad press on this issue" and moved on. But the polling is wildly on Dem's side on this one! Opponents of what the Trump admin is doing with him outnumber supporters 2-1!

Success is pointing out to regular people that Trump is an unusually weak leader who is a mess of contradictions and is constantly going back on his promises. They don't care about policy, don't think about this in policy terms.
