New: U.K.'s data protection watchdog has fined 23andMe for failing to protect U.K. residents’ personal and genetic data prior to its 2023 data breach. The ICO said over 150,000 U.K. residents had data stolen in the cyberattack. 23andMe's bankruptcy hearing is expected later today.

An Afghan man who worked as a translator for the U.S. military during the war was detained by ICE after showing up for a hearing inside of a federal courthouse in San Diego, his attorney says. My latest scoop: ICE has rescinded its accountability policy for warrantless arrests, giving agents “free license to make any arrest,” per one lawyer representing victims. It follows @theguardian.com exclusive that the agency was told to “push the envelope” to meet Trump’s 3k arrest quota.
