This Arizona petroglyph may depict the supernova of 1006 AD – the star symbol is on the right and the constellation Scorpius on the left

Excluding some of humanity's more questionable output, garbage is just atoms waiting to be recycled by the biosphere. At the molecular level, reincarnation is absolutely a thing.

Every atom in your body was forged in the heart of a star. You are living proof that the universe creates wonders—and learns to wonder about itself. #science #hope

We once looked up at the stars with wonder. Now we build ships to reach them—not because we must, but because we can. Humanity’s greatest power isn’t technology—it’s imagination. #scifi

"exit" comes is the third-person singular present form of the Latin verb "exire," mean "he/she leaves" and so is widely used as stage direction and so became the familiar English word. "Egress" comes from the Latin egressus, the past participle of egredi, meaning “to step out.”

Minutes are named from the Latin, pars minuta prima, meaning "first small parting." Seconds are named for secundus meaning “next in order” (the following small parting). You're welcome.

Starship fell, but so did Icarus—and we still dream of wings. Progress isn’t always pretty, but it is inevitable. #Hopepunk #SciFi

Starship didn't stick the landing, but neither did we the first time we walked upright. Every crash is a draft. Every launch, a paragraph in the story of becoming multiplanetary. #SpaceX #Starship #scifi

Friendly reminder that today, USB cables can and do contain hidden processors to infect or spy on your computer. Testers are available, but affordable, trustworthy testers rare. So buy directly from trusted manufacturers, never from cheap Amazon brandless vendors.

Today's a good day because I received royalties equivalent to pay for a new short story. What goodness happened to you today?

I may have vastly overestimated the pervasiveness of this erroneous QWERTY factoid. Here's an blog explaining the truth--and what the research really shows: cstuarthardwick.com/2016/07/03/q...

The "QWERTY" keyboard was designed to enable FASTER, not slower typing, and if you think otherwise, you are demonstrably wrong, likely influenced by arguments for the Dvorak keyboard which, despite alleged superiority, has never held the speed record for long.

You are 90% stardust and 10% caffeine. The universe literally believes in you. Now go sparkle. ;-)

Teleportation still isn’t real, but at least coffee is. Engage caffeine thrusters. Monday, we ride. #sci-fi

Good morning

How would you fill the time on the three-day coast to/from the moon?

On this fine spring day, I'd like to say "thanks" to the nearly 60,000 folks now following me on this refreshingly more civilized platform. I shall endeavor each day not to disappoint. Meanwhile, if you haven't already, help yourself to my free sci-fi story sampler at cStuartHardwick.com/qr

Fantastic photos by astronaut Don Pettit who just got back from seven months in space. Milky Way above the Pacific Ocean before sunrise. Two nearby dwarf galaxies. A cargo delivery ship docking. A comet, and to its left a meteor burning up as it hits the atmosphere. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/12/s...

The nitrogen in our DNA, the calcium in our teeth, the iron in our blood, the carbon in our apple pies were made in the interiors of collapsing stars. We are made of starstuff. - Carl Sagan, Cosmos

Your School House Rock moment.....🤔

Remember when we realized dinosaurs were really just giant birds and people were like "oh well that's not very terrifying anymore" and then everyone who's ever met a goose was like GIIIIIRRRLLLLL
