Hey, #kidlit world: Is anyone looking for a subject for a picture book biography? www.theguardian.com/world/2025/j...

I speak fluent Spanish and would like to use that for good in These Times - on an information hotline or something? I've reached out to the org that should be my local resource (a couple months ago) and not heard back. Is there something national? (I'm in the Seattle area.)

That was our second day at the lake this summer. #kayak #paddleboard #swimming

My writing in the last ten years has gone from earnest "coming of age" #MG to an urgent "get political and help others" vibe encompassing #nonfiction. #kidlitchat

Happy book birthday to Team Awkward 2, the number 1 Amazon pick in the extremely niche category of Children's Babysitting Books, despite there being not a single instance of babysitting in the book. (Which is why one should rely on librarians & booksellers for recommendations, and not algorithms.)

“The riches Trump is harvesting as president represent a raw financial conflict of interest that shreds the integrity of his office and the bona fides of some of his core policy goals.” My column today: www.bloomberg.com/opinion/arti...

Introducing the Wild Pride 2025 Collection! I created these colorful wildlife illustrations for #Pride month with my love for nature & the LGBTQ+ community in mind. I’m donating 50% of sales to Safe Homes of Worcester, MA. To see art and find out more visit: www.weyakindesigns.com/buy-art/wild...

HISTORIC HOSPITAL: The Dr. Susan La Flesche Picotte Memorial Hospital, following a $4 million renovation, will hold its grand opening on Sunday, June 22, in Walthill, 90 miles north of Omaha. From Paul Hammel:

Four of my seven beautiful and unique children joined me at the lake today! I'm not worthy to be their dad, but thankful I am.

If you need a Dad high five, fist bump, hug, or listening ear today, I got you.

Proud of my local school districts efforts toward inclusion! Thank you to the educators and administrators who really do practice our motto of "Every Child, Every Day"! hechingerreport.org/nebraska-inv...

We have outdoor cats, and I theorize this young cottonwood has developed a defense of sorts (multiple downward growing sprouts) against cat scratches on the unprotected (left) side. What say you, practicing #arborists and #scientists?

And here we are

#booksky #amreading #pride I just finished this gem by Chad Lucas and took this pic after drying my eyes. So timely and fulfilling! Put it on your reading list! Thanks for writing it, @chadgalucas.bsky.social! #nature #kayaking with my kids

Today a friend who owns a restaurant franchise started in with me about politics. Me: I hate being bullied, used, and lied to tho. I want public servants who serve. Friend: Yeah, but all politicians lie. Me: I'd rather eat an overcooked burger than a grilled charcoal brick. Friend: Yeah, but...

We’re in the DOGE Subcommittee hearing, but where’s Elon? Is the “oversight” in the room with us?
Republicans wanted to talk about NGOs and Stacey Abrams. But, Trump’s out here slapping a for sale sign on the White House lawn—and y’all wanna play games?

This was a Dismal River camping/fishing trip with my son a year ago. Next annual trip is coming soon!

Imagine having the privilege and luxury to believe whatever you want to believe with no consequences and regardless of truth. Some people live in that world.

Can confirm.

Happy Pride!!! I'm Queer! Remember: In a study the number one reason people cited as changing their mind about if queers should have rights is that they knew a LGBTQ+ person, so being visible saves lives!!

The Vanished Ones, by Chad Lucas, tackles important current issues and prompts the reader to examine faith and truth, hope, and belief. Great story, @chadgalucas.bsky.social ! I'm just beginning chapter 13.

Messy Perfect is both a window and a mirror, showing readers how systems take away our individuality and the consequences faced by those who can’t find an out.

Un-put-downable. A little more complex than its cover implies, this is a title to hand to that kid that always has to be the best, even if it kills them.
