This is what I try to live up to, every day of my life

Today, and every day, we stand with supporters groups across the NWSL to say - loud and clear: Trans People Belong. In the stands, on the pitch, in our communities - everywhere. Everyone deserves to feel safe, respected, and celebrated. No exceptions. 🏳️‍⚧️🏳️‍⚧️ #TransPeopleBelong

The reason for the season:

MONDAY'S FIRST NWSL GOAL 🔥

I miss @stevesilberman.bsky.social so much. I can't help but wonder what events we'd be doing in April for #AutismAcceptanceMonth. Whether we'd finally do an in-person event or something else. And @shannonrosa.bsky.social's tribute to Steve at his memorial was so beautiful.

Musical genius and humanitarian Dolly Parton “is making reading more accessible to children in Madera and Fresno by gifting them free books. First 5 Madera and United Way Fresno and Madera will welcome Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library on Wednesday in celebration of the Week of the Young Child.” 📚

it’s such a joy to watch dawn staley work

Today in Autism Books You Should Know: @ericmgarcia.bsky.social's We're Not Broken: On how autistic people have always been here, and can thrive through having their disabilities acknowledged and accommodated, while recognizing and fostering their abilities. thinkingautismguide.com/2021/09/were...

Good thread. This is why you need working historians to explain how and why particular clauses made their way into the text, which requires thinking contextually as well as linguistically. That need not make one an originalist. It just means that history is always relevant to constitutional analysis

BREAKING: Louisianans just rejected a ballot measure that would have paved the way for more children to be prosecuted as adults. It lost by roughly 30%. Here’s how a supporter had justified it: “Some of these kids are already lost when they’re two years old.” Context: boltsmag.org/louisiana-am...

Pay to play will always be nasty work, I'm sorry.

A few years ago I visited the National Museum of African American History & Culture with my grandparents. When we stepped out of the building my grandmother kept repeating the words “I lived it. I lived it. I lived it.” She’s still here. That history is still in her bones. You can never erase that.

This was such a satisfying project, and one in which I realized for the first time how much my whole life had been spent in a manscape, in places where almost everything was named after men.

Are we coaching players—or commanding chess pieces? ♟️ 🚨 This is the most important thing I’ve written: A deep dive into how tactics, mimicry, and control are reshaping the game—and how we reclaim it. For the coaches who want to give the game back👇 www.itsjustasport.co...

“Modern Love” came up on shuffle, so I have to share the flow chart. Image: pinstripehourglass on tumblr

Totally blew some students' minds last week with the fact that Bluetooth was named after King Harald Bluetooth who united the tribes of Denmark into a single kingdom (bc Bluetooth technology connects devices) AND the Bluetooth symbol is a bind rune that combines his initials, H (ᚼ) and B (ᛒ).

“Find out just what any people will quietly submit to & you have found out the exact measure of injustice & wrong which will be imposed upon them, & these will continue till they are resisted with either words or blows, or with both.“ -Frederick Douglass, 1857

honestly legendary that she debuted in a cup final in her second best position, played well, and buried a crucial penalty in a pk shootout all in like 30 minutes lol

I think we all already know but Marisa's reporting on Trump 2 has been nothing short of phenomenal. A must follow. Subscribe and all that too

"It’s easy to miss the human side of policy, legal compliance, the nitty gritty of efficient government. To get caught up in slogans about fraud or waste. That’s what Musk and Trump are counting on. And yet I see and hear the human side every time my son says “My dad’s name is David.” On @msnbc.com

Legend.

I will make ONE set of prints available from this Expired & Disposable set. 5x7 prints, can be framed or unframed. Please let me know if you’re interested!

Aw maaaaan. May his memory be a blessing — inspiration for some of the greatest songs ever written

Read @kimischilling.bsky.social’s analysis of the #USWNT’s teenage midfield partnership of Yohannes and Hutton - IMO the biggest positive takeaway from the SheBelieves Cup: www.theguardian.com/football/202...

Briana Scurry didn’t just play the game, she changed it. A World Cup champion, Olympic gold medalist, and Hall of Famer, she paved the way for generations of Black women in soccer. Her impact goes beyond the pitch, advocating for mental health and inclusion. 💙

Rousseau would have been a great blogger I think.

I was privileged to know Gene Hackman because he played tennis with another Gene—Gene Wilder. And that Gene told him about a little role called The Blind Hermit in our movie YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN…

Never mistake kindness for weakness. Every act of kindness in 2025 is a refusal to let the terrible choices of powerful people define us. A refusal to bow to their vision, where your only two choices are Fight Me or Surrender. It is the courage to remind them of their occasional irrelevance.

Another great read on the USWNT, in preparation for SheBelieves. Excellent, insightful analysis

Real talk about the USWNT’s opposition in the SheBelieves Cup, squad composition, and commitment to protecting trans kids, as well as love for Phallin Tullis-Joyce. So here for this!

The Mercury-Atlas 6 mission launched #OTD in 1962. John Glenn became the first American to orbit Earth, circling three times in the Friendship 7 capsule. Glenn refused to trust the computer controlled trajectory until mathematician Katherine Johnson checked it by hand. 🧪 👩🏾‍🔬 🔭 Images: NASA

This is one of my favorite poems of all time, written by the wonderful & greatly missed John M. Ford. I’ve been thinking about it a lot recently. So I thought I would share it.
