Supreme Court's right-wing super majority is totally corrupt and in the bag for the Trump dictatorship. Doesn't get much worse for democracy than that. archive.ph/xjyiq

Hilarious: "Times Higher Education Supplement" invites you to let its 949 "partners" snoop on you and/or sell you stuff...

Trump and Musk, dismantling USAID with obvious malice in their hearts, caused the deaths of countless people -- mostly children -- in the developing world. If it wasn't murder, what was it? www.nytimes.com/2025/06/21/o... (Unlocked commentary from the NY Times.)

Here's right-wing Axios treating ICE's blatantly illegal "policy" restricting congressional inspections of the jails and gulags where Trump's masked thugs store their kidnap victims. www.axios.com/2025/0... This is how journalism normalizes extremism.

Must-read from Garrett Graff -- a topic that Big Journalism should be shouting from the rooftops. Our top news organizations are merely covering it as just one side of a normal dispute, not the precursor to America's emerging police state. www.doomsdayscenario...

Private equity vampires are collecting billions by sucking the life out of businesses and communities. The Trump/Republican reward-the-rich tax bill gives them even more incentive to do this. Call your senators and representatives, now. cepr.net/publication... www.levernews.com/wa... #pitchforks

"ICE says it wasn’t them. DHS says they were Border Patrol. But honestly who the hell knows? They’ve given permission for any psycho to put on a ski mask, point a gun, grab people & throw them into an unmarked vehicle."

From Dan Tynan: "Hey, maybe (White House personnel director) Gor is not a Putin asset. Maybe he has no connection to Russia at all. But if there's nothing to hide about his background, why is he working so hard to hide it?" tynanfiles.beehiiv.c...

Totally disgusts me that both Democratic California senators joined the pro-corruption Republicans and helped pass legislation that will benefit the crooked and dangerous (to everyone's economic well-being) cryptocurrency "industry". I'll vote against them in the future. www.senate.gov/legis...

Exhibit 60,440 of Trump regime flagrantly breaking the law, with impunity: www.thecity.nyc/2025...

Really stupid spate of articles wondering whether MAGA will fracture if Trump goes ahead and launches the US into war with Iran. The cult is going to do whatever he says in the end.

Actor/author made a documentary about the scam-and-crime crytpocurrency "industry" -- which has essentially purchased the federal government (for relative chump change) and will likely soon destroy the global economy. He can't find a distributor. www.texasmonthly.com...

Epic cringe-bait: Guy explains to CEO of Signal (messaging) that it's going to add "AI" to the service. She says no. He insists, not knowing or caring who he's talking down to.

Trump phone is either one of the most blatant examples of vaporware in tech history or outright fraud. www.theverge.com/gad...

The Times can't help itself. Blatantly corrupt dealings in Trump world merely "raise ethical concerns" -- because the Times (like essentially all of Big Journalism) has normalized activity that would have had news barons demanding impeachment of any previous president.

An day of epic protests in America yesterday warrants one mention now on the NY Times homepage: far down the page, about a protester's killing in Utah. The Times has said repeatedly that its mission doesn't include saving democracy. This is only the latest evidence of its indifference.

The New York Times says Trump's praise-the-dictator parade was overshadowed by the Minnesota killings and Israel's war on Iran. But it doesn't mention that millions of people turned out around the U.S. to protest Dear Leader's fascism. The Paper of Record™, indeed.

Sigh, the establishment Democrats' response to one of their senators being attacked by Trump goons was to beg. They begged Trump to pretty please not do it again. They begged everyone who'd ever given a nickel to one of their candidates to fork over more money. 1/2

As usual, Talking Points Memo understands what's happening earlier than Big Journalism -- in this case the Trump regime's actual goal in its attack on LA. What's happening is a coup, an extreme right-wing overthrow of the elected state and local governments. talkingpointsmemo.co...

Glad to see Democrats (and a random Republican or two) expressing outrage after Trump's thugs manhandled one of their colleagues. This is an improvement from the Democrats' standard "deeply concerned" response to Trump's fascism. Are the Dems planning to, you know, DO anything about it?

White House press corps asks Fascist Barbie some mildly challenging questions. She can't take it, and bails out of her daily propaganda fest. www.thedailybeast.co...

Trump's generals, disgracing the uniforms they wear, are following orders. www.theatlantic.com/...

Credulous, ridiculous framing by the otherwise excellent Inside Climate News -- headline and story pretend that the Justice Department had to give permission for something it was plainly ordered to do. insideclimatenews.or... Please do better, journalists.

“The news norms that facilitate democratic life may also facilitate its undoing.” Important new book by Nik Usher and Jessica C. Hagman, "Amplifying Extremism: Small Town Politicians, Media Storms, and American Journalism" -- free download (apparently for a limited time). www.niemanlab.org/20...

"Without a commitment to documenting truth, all that’s left is propaganda." As Big Journalism mostly bows to Trump and normalizes his extremism and crimes, a very few journalists are doing what's needed -- standing up to give us the reality and the context. 1/2

This is a New York Times headline, but it could easily be an Onion parody of a New York Times headline:

Newsom's moment: www.youtube.com/watc...

The Trump regime's overt attacks on freedom of expression (except right-wing lies and propaganda, which will be totally protected) is accelerating. I don't see much alarm about this in what's left of our "mainstream" press. Maybe that will change, too late, when the browshirts invade newsrooms.

Musk's rolling dumpsters (aka CyberTrucks) are a complete flop, which is a rare bit of good news in these discouraging times. futurism.com/cybertr...

The top UK science academy -- the Royal Society -- has demonstrated abject cowardice in its refusal to eject member Elon Musk for his brazen attacks on science. A winner of the society's top award is among several members who has objected in the most useful way: archive.ph/MBbO8

AP does stenography for the regime and calls it journalism:

Mini-Trump DeSantis apparatchik "orders" newspaper to stop reporting on DeSantis corruption. Newspaper editor says, appropriately, up yours. apnews.com/article/o...

What's left of our traditional news media will bear key responsibility if the LA situation leads to the worst outcome. Everything wrong with journalism is on display in the credulous "coverage" -- panicky BS that seems designed to give fascist wannabes the pretext to take it to the next level.

Trump is looking for a pretext for bringing his fascistic goals to reality. Tom Nichols at the Atlantic says restraint in the face of his regime's provocations is vital, and I tend to agree. www.theatlantic.com/...

ABC is punishing a reporter for saying an obvious truth out loud -- that Trump and his henchman Miller are "world-class haters". What's most telling about this episode is that the Big Story is about ABC and its response -- not about Trump and Miller and their vile loathings.

Major-league fascist shit happening right now in America. Congress is helping it along with Republicans totally in favor, while many Democrats are too cowardly to raise hell. Meanwhile, judges are either complicit or slow. It's going to be up to the people. We're getting closer to the edge.

The NY Times just can't help itself -- "raises questions" is the tamest possible language in describing the Trump regime's butchery of justice in its escalating human-rights abuses, exemplified by the case of Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia. At least there's acknowledgement of lawbreaking.

Even a former prime minister of Israel admits his country is committing war crimes. Meanwhile, defenders of these crimes are saying, essentially, that anyone who criticizes the Netanyahu regime is anti-Semitic. www.newyorker.com/ne...

I don't know whether the Trump-Musk feud is real or just an elaborate con. What is clear is that both of them are sociopaths who lie relentlessly, have total contempt for laws they find inconvenient, and view the rest of us with pure contempt. If they harm each other, that's a win for humanity.

The bad faith of right-wing politicians may be the only "resource" that can't possibly run out. www.nytimes.com/2025...

Trump's regime is inviting terrorists to attack the United States. How? By dismantling all kinds of national-security operations and, in this insane move, appointing a completely unqualified kid to a key security post: www.propublica.org/a... Why? The invited attack will be our Reichstag Fire.
