NEW Japan train news! JR East has announced a new overnight express train service from Tokyo to Northern Tohoku, starting in spring 2027. This train will feature private rooms, a lounge car, an elevated class called Premium Green, and more. #Japan #trains altitudeyes.com/japans-jr-ea...

The Declaration of Independence specifies 27 grievances with King George III, and I count at least 15 of them that Donald Trump has also committed in whole or in part. Particularly notable right now: "He has kept among us, in times of peace, Standing Armies without the Consent of our legislatures."

The “1775: Rebels, Rights and Revolution” exhibit is now open! For the American Revolution’s 250th anniversary, explore items from the MHS collection that provide insight into key figures and events from the revolution's beginnings in Massachusetts. More info: www.masshist.org/250

If you’re wondering how a mayor Cuomo would respond to the situation that’s unfolding in LA, this is what he had to say as governor in 2020

The ancient Greek experience of colour does not seem to match our own. How is this possible? Did the Greeks really see the colours of the world differently from the way we do? buff.ly/XcLOH97 #WorldOceansDay

Gathering of fascists in Moscow, Elon Musk's father in attendance

There are ZERO riots. I am in downtown Los Angeles. There are live feeds of everything that was here and what went down in Paramount. Dudes on mini bikes making noise and people holding Fuck Ice signs etc. But no violence from protesters. None. Cannot say the same about the opposition.

One way to be a patriot right now is not to engage in doomerism. These people are fascists and they’re very dangerous. But they’re also weak, undisciplined, and unpopular. And they’re losing.

EXTREMELY BAD NEWS for economic research, per former BLS Commissioner @ericagroshen.bsky.social on LinkedIn. BLS is suspending access to its restricted data "for the forseeable future." Applies to projects through the Federal Statistical Research Data Centers & onsite projects with BLS. #EconSky

'In choosing a mayor, you want someone knowledgeable about the city, its issues and its bureaucracy, open to hearing out diverse perspectives, and capable of finding the best people to delegate to, said Krueger,...' #NYC #nycmayor www.cityandstateny.com/politics/202...

NYC is a wild ride. We need someone in charge who has experience, integrity and real solutions to: 👊fight corruption, ❎end wasteful spending, 🏘️build affordable housing, and 💪stand up to Donald Trump All while keeping their cool. I’m Brad Lander, and I’m running to be your next Mayor.

June, soon. July, stand by. August, you must. September, remember. October, all over. #hurricaneseason #hurricane

Spare us the fake outrage.

My first walk over the new Queensboro Bridge dedicated pedestrian path! It’s so nice to be separated from bikes on the other side, but ugh @nyc-dot.bsky.social didn’t lift a finger to make it a nice experience. It’s also unfinished on the Queens side, with no hardening against wayward drivers!

Hey @pressherald.com @bangordailynews.bsky.social @mainepublic.org Here's someone very prominent stating the obvious about Collins! Instead of reprinting her press releases, ask her what she's actually doing

More "startling behavior" 🥴

The Ocean is North America's oldest named passenger rail service. Since 1904, it's linked #Halifax to #Montreal, via Sandford Fleming's Intercolonial Railway line. It's a sleeper, and the food, service, and scenery are outstanding. I document our trip in my feature in #London's @thetimes.com 🛤️🧵

here’s a crazy statistic: more people work for the MTA (~70K employees) than are coal miners in the entire country (~42K)

Open AI’s valuation is at $400 billion. They used about 190,000 books to train their plagiarism bot. Randomly saying 25% of their value comes from that stolen dataset, I think they owe the authors about $526,000 per stolen book.
