Chris Bell’s ‘I Am The Cosmos’. For a retrospectively released album, it looms large. It’s influence & legend almost rivalling that of Big Star. I don’t think it’d be an overstatement to say that the 90s indie rock scene would’ve sounded pretty different without this album & Chris Bell in general…⭐️🪐

Day off Listening slight return #1 Robert Wyatt’s classic ‘Rock Bottom’, produced by Nick Mason & released in 1974. It’s avant and experimental but catchy as hell and full of underwater woozy warmth…almost impossible to describe but absolutely beautiful ❤️

Gene Clark’s absolutely amazing ‘Roadmaster’, released in 1973 & only in the Netherlands initially…It’s a collection of recordings made between 1970-72 so not really a proper ‘album’ as such but possibly my favourite of his records. An all time classic in my book…What stunning songs he wrote 🦅✌️❤️🚀😎

Sticking with Neil Ardley…This time it’s the stunning ‘Harmony of the Spheres’ from ‘79…Again an incredible cast of UK jazzers joined this time by the great John Martyn on guitar & his echo-plex..Similar vibe but more cosmic & ambient with some amazing avant funk stylings…Wonderful stuff!✌️🚀🪐❤️

Day off Listening #1 Neil Ardley’s ‘Kaleidoscope of Rainbows’ from 1976 features an incredible cast of UK jazzers including Ian Carr, Tony Coe, Barbara Thompson & produced by Paul Buckmaster. A bit like Nucleus but more cosmic..Neil Ardley came from round my way which is very cool. Great album ✌️🚀🪐❤️
