I can't believe people think that using LLMs to write isn't destroying their critical thinking abilities. I'm like 5% dumber just because of spellcheck.

Keir Starmer can find billions for weapons factories, drones and a submarine but not for disability benefits or the two child limit. One more time for those at the back: Poverty Is A Political Choice.

The “AI jobs apocalypse” heralded by AI CEOs like Dario Amodei and Sam Altman is a story with one particular audience in mind: the bosses who are eager to see it happen

We’re building a movement Everyday more people are joining the Green Party. And with the right leadership more MPs will too.

We need to make the Labour Government more scared of losing votes and seats to the Green Party than to Reform. I'm in this week's @bigissue.com talking about how we can make this happen. 1/2

Trump shares baseless conspiracy that Joe Biden died and was replaced by a clone. He seems mentally ill and needs help. That possibly explains abuse of power and tantrums. Dangerous - has finger on the nuclear button. How long before he is impeached?

Burberry new boss got £2.6m in 9 months, axed 1,700 jobs. This year he could earn up to £5.6m. In line for £25,000 a month “housing allowance” plus £135,171 to help him find a new home, £120,655 towards removal costs. Workers produce wealth, get fired; CEOs take the cream.

UK Govt sells final shares in NatWest 17 years after £45bn bailout. Divestment went on for some years. Public purse made £10bn loss. Govts bail out lame ducks but once they recover they are sold back to the City, which always wins. Why do govts not keep what is profitable?

Reform should never appear on TV without a fact checker. And they should never be able to try & rubbish climate action without someone saying 92% of their external donations came from fossil fuel & climate denying companies. Party for the billionaires. Fact check below from @desmog.com

If you want to see a green party leader that will take the fight to Reform, then vote for Zack to be leader. backzack.com #backzack

NEW: More than half of disabled people with daily living needs in parts of England and Wales could lose out under planned cuts At least 50% of PIP daily living allowance claimants in ten constituencies could lose this benefit By me, for @bigissue.com www.bigissue.com/news/social-...

Decent politicians need to push back against Farage's comments on Lucy Connelly. "millions of mothers after Southport feeling exactly the same way"? No. Millions did NOT feel the need to call for mass murder of asylum seekers & we simply cannot allow the idea to be normalised.

An apology to Keir Starmer:

“The illusion Labour relies on – that there is no money – has gone up in a puff of smoke. If there’s cash to keep pensioners warm in winter, why aren’t there ways to raise funds to do the same for children or disabled people?” My col. on Starmer’s u-turns. www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

"The two child benefit cap is immoral, its obscene... we need to give children as great a chance as possible to thrive... when it comes to buying bombs there's always a limitless amount of money" Nels Abbey on #GMB

Between 2011 and 2023, 816 care homes in England were forcibly closed by the regulator for poor standards and harms to residents. 804 were owned by for-profit entities. 30% -40% of fees vanish in profits, leaving less for services. Profits and care don't mix.

Scandals within The Post Office (TPO) scandal Alan Bates offered 49.2% of his compensation claim. Postmasters bullied to accept less. Public purse to bear cost of £1.8bn+. No contribution from TPO execs, Fujitsu, TPO lawyers, auditors. When will the scandal end? archive.ph/OP10x

UK public purse to make £10bn loss from £45bn bailout of NatWest bank in 2008. Govt selling last of its shares, could have used it to fund SME/infrastructure investment. Boss who crashed the bank gets £600k a year pension. Bailouts for the City, benefit cuts for the poor.

The turning point that wasn't: the way the world talks about Israel's war has changed. Nothing else has | Nesrine Malik

Slow news day at The Daily Rowling? In fact, I've been publicly engaging with trans issues for longer than the bigoted billionaire. And, amazingly, no mention of crybaby JK ('no one loves free speech more than I do') Rowling's threat to get her lawyers onto me if I don't mind my Ps and Qs.

South Western Railway marks renationalisation of passenger services. Welcome. Some were already run by the state. Rolling stock remains privatised. Govt will rent carriages, pay billions, mostly to companies holed up in tax havens. Freight also remains privatised. Must renationalise the lot.

Some more inconvenient evidence for you to ignore, @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social? Still, what matters a few more dead kids if you minimise negative press from The Daily Rowling.

"We haven't had any medical aid to us since the 2nd of March, so we're running out of all sorts of consumables" British surgeon Victoria Rose speaking from Gaza

A British surgeon currently in Gaza: "These children are so malnourished they are wasting away. Its shocking to see this degree of malnutrition..." Israel is deliberately starving over 2 million people. Half of them are children. And the UK govt is helping them while they do it.

"Can public ownership fix Britains trains?" A bit difficult when we don't own them. Under the govts 'public ownership' plans the trains will continue to be owned by private rolling stock companies that extract hundreds of millions of pounds each year from our railways #GMB

"The products you love are tangibly worse. We're richer than ever, especially after all those layoffs. We're also building giant data centers that cost billions of dollars to force new and bad features into products you're already mad at, at the low cost of "the environment and every work of art."

It's the New York Times baby! No need to ask any of the god damn workers who use the ai tools if it'll help them, ask their managers!

It is as if Labour hate children and most especially children with needs or those in poverty, and is intent on doing everything they can to make life as hard as possible for them and all those who care for them. www.taxresearch.org.uk/Blog/2025/05...

Yes, this is because the current situation - nasty authoritarians vs the posh National Front - did not spring from the public, and it has little connection to them. It was imposed from above by Britain’s abysmal political/media class, in their own interest.

Financial crime in the UK. $2trn to $5.5trn dirty money laundered globally. 40% through the UK, its Crown Dependencies, Overseas Territories. Govt can take out Unexplained Wealth Orders (UWOs) to chase crooks. 2017-2025: 7 UWOs, none since 2019, no prosecutions. Laws not enforced on the City.

This lunacy is not confined to the Telegraph: several days ago the FT published a story "On free speech, Britain can learn from America." Mind blowing - and true.

"The UK economy has become a machine for the upward redistribution of wealth. Using Sunday Times Rich List data, the report found that the 50 wealthiest UK families now own more than the poorest half of the population combined." www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

Think back to October 2023 and you’ll see it wasn’t about manufacturing consent. The press immediately made it very, very clear that anyone notable who spoke out against the slaughter would get their head instantly kicked in by every media outlet in unison, by whatever means were necessary.

Thank you so much everyone for your enthusiam at seeing @bbclaurak.bsky.social this morning! Lots of people getting in touch to ask how they can support the campaign & grow the green party. An endorsement photo is super appreciated & you can make your own here: backzack.com/get-involved/

Members of the Scottish Parliament from four of the five main political parties at Holyrood have written to the Presiding Officer protesting her unlawful and (we believe) transphobic guidance. Please add your name to theirs. goodlaw.social/3fpq

War propaganda of the 2020s is a different beast. There’s little need to manage public opinion: we’re they’re getting the same from either major party, and the press is 100% onside. But there is clearly urgency to make public figures understand speaking against it will make their careers go kaboom.

A really clear cut case of Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes here. If you indulged any of that Cancel Culture horseshit or repeated any of the drivel about leftist social media thugs threatening democracy or whatever, then congratulations: this is what you have won.

Would we say this is the worst thing they have done? I appreciate it’s a long list, but there are some standouts.

*Nigel Farage* trying to outflank Labour to their left is just embarrassing, the kind of thing that should have two thirds of parliament and every political commentator in the country crawling on their knees, begging forgiveness from a public they deliberately fucked over in their own interest.

It is incredible that a few dissidents within this party are having to beg their leaders to facilitate less genocide, but it took years of very determined hard work to ensure it would be like this, when the solution finally arrived.
