Andor was as timely a piece of art (and a masterpiece, at that) as we could have hoped for. youtu.be/wQd4JdFP0d0?...

Calscape says these guys don’t flower until their second year. This Hooker’s evening primrose was like, “nah, my stance is too wide for that.” #californianativeplants #gardening

She fluttered around the yard for 5 minutes, rested on a golden aster, then proceeded to lay eggs.

It’s like this every morning. #californianativeplants #dogs

Malva Rosa (Malva assurgentiflora) seeds. Gonna have a lot of them. Apparently, you scarify and soak, and then sow in winter/spring. I’m glowing indoors, so gonna give these bad boys a try.

Someone fucked around in a mud puddle. Now he’s finding out.

El Nursery de Turner is open for business. Prepping for a big fall planting project, and hoping to save money by propagating some of my existing plants to supplement some other purchases.

That is a very pretty color for a monkeyflower. #californianativeplants #gardening

Propagation progress: asters and Winnifred Gilman Sage. New growth on the asters and a tiny bud on the sage. A bonus San Clemente bushmallow for fun. #californianativeplants #gardening

I think I found an Entmoot. I’ve walked through spot dozens of times over the past few decades, and I’m pretty sure they’ve just now finished say, “good morning.” #sequoianationalpark

This is Betty, a female Costa’s hummingbird. She nested nearby, and she’s diligently working every tubular blossom I have. She’s very curious, and I often find her hovering a few feet away, checking on what I’m up to. She doesn’t sit still often, but she obliged with a pose just this once.

Some early signs propagation successes. Way more failures than successes, but failure is an excellent teacher. Cuttings were taken mainly in March, kept in a humidity dome until rooting, gradually hardened over 10 days, then placed straight into the ground #californianativeplants

Finally got a coyote mint blossom. I planted it in a spot that was quickly overrun by annuals. It got scraggly and leggy. Cleared out the annuals then did some tip pruning, and now it’s filling out again. #californianativeplants

Some fun new blooms #californianativeplants

Pretty flowers and buds #californianativeplants

If you plant it, they will come. #monarchs #californianativeplants

Just an absolute stunner of a bushmallow! #californianativeplants

So excited! I took cuttings on a southern chaparral bushmallow from a roadside plant, and not only has it rooted, but now it’s flowering! It’s only 3”, but I’m hopeful it will survive the summer and establish through next winter. #californianativeplants

Another on-the-fly replanting. This meadow planting was overgrown with yarrow, and now that we have a dog, I wanted something that had a meadow look, but also a decent amount of durability. I planted clustered field sedge with a drift of blue grama through the center. #californianativeplants

First celestial blue sage flower stalk. Such beautiful color.
