Exploring Lower Banon Creek Falls near Chemainus, BC Tucked away in the forested hills near Chemainus, Lower Banon Creek Falls is a quiet and rewarding destination for those willing to go a bit off the beaten path. Often overshadowed by its upper counterpart, the less dramatic Lower Banon Creek…

A Tale of Two Water Lilies at Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park Just a short drive from downtown Victoria, British Columbia, Elk/Beaver Lake Regional Park is a peaceful green space for hikers, joggers, paddlers, and bird watchers. Located in Saanich, a 10km multi-use trail loops around the connected…

Just trying out a new theme/look for islandnature.ca with an image forward vibe - check it out and let me know what you think! Still sorting through the widget/navigation options.

Forest Wildflowers Along the Puntledge River In early spring, the bloom of forest wildflowers is spectacular along the trails of the Puntledge River Recreation Area. Beginning at the outlet of the Comox Lake Reservoir, this second growth forest offers a sometimes confusing network of riverside…

Voting day today in Canada - polls are open, make sure to vote!

Aaron Gunn’s website just dropped - it explains everything that we were wondering about because he hasn’t attended any candidate debates. Worth a look!!! All questions answered. If you’re a voter in North Island - Powell River this might help firm up your voting plans! www.voteaarongunn.com

Got an old Vitomatic IIa that had a half shot roll of film in it. I finished it off and want to process it but it’s Kodachrome 64… Any suggestions? I do have access to a fully functional darkroom with chemistry to process black and white film.

Still lots of great choices at the local BC Liquor store… just nothing American. #ElbowsUp

Latest egg update from Canada for Americans - these prices are CDN. Organic and lowest price on the shelf. Also, there were loads of eggs. #ElbowsUp

Cybertruck/driver sighting of the day at PKOLS, Mt Douglas Park, Saanich, BC. Guy gets dog out, talks on phone, dog takes a dump on the trail, he doesn’t pick up. Truck/driver prediction based on dog owner behaviour and douche bag appearance, prediction confirmed as correct when he returns to truck.

As a Canadian with Ukrainian roots on my mother’s side, I’m absolutely appalled by the actions of the administration of the USA. These grifters, liars, and con artists have destroyed any sort of integrity that nation once had. Disgusting, incompetent, and childish. In solidarity, Ukraine strong. 🇺🇦

A quick update on Google search’s Stategate here in Canada. Apparently provincial parks being labeled as “State parks” is not a new thing. We just didn’t notice it. www.cbc.ca/amp/1.7466824
