As a Canadian, I'm not laughing along about the parade. Instead I'm feeling a new, deeper level of sadness at what is being said about it. The world is watching on, in horror. #ETTD

This looks like an 80s comedy where John Belushi & some stoners steal a tank for shits & giggles

Some thoughts about the military parade in my hometown of Washington DC today -- specifically, the route. Military parades in DC are quite rare. But when they happen, they have always begun, symbolically and geographically, at the Capitol and moved outward. 1/

Given events in the past 24 hours, it might have been helpful for the United States to be able to speak to Iranians in Farsi, their official language. But the incompetent children at Doge dismantled Voice of America, cutting off that communication and ultimately not saving the US a penny.

More Americans voted for Senator Alex Padilla than for 48 of the 53 red state GOP U.S. Senators combined.

Sen. Alex Padilla, who was just forcibly removed from a DHS press conference, is the ranking member of Judiciary’s subcommittee on immigration, citizenship, and border safety, which has “oversight of federal agencies with citizenship, asylum, refugee, and immigration enforcement responsibilities.”

In the past week, a union leader has been arrested, a U.S. Rep charged with a crime, a U.S. Senator violently handcuffed, and reporters shot with rubber bullets and detained. There is no ambiguity. This is a regime operating as an authoritarian. Americans who believe in liberty must oppose it.

Trade deals — with this administration “trad deals” are definitely a possibility.

I think all they’ve really managed to do this week is encourage more people to turn out for the No Kings protests. Being underwater on every issue before July is pretty impressive.

I suppose all this tripe about Biden's age might be important to know, but it belongs on the History Channel. It's not news. You know what's news? The president deploying the military against US citizens. The Billionaire Bailout Bill. DOGE getting access to our private data. THAT is news.

If Abrego Garcia committed a crime, he should be charged and tried. I wondered reading this headline why they didn't just do this in the first place, and then read the article to discover that they only began the investigation in April, after he was deported.

Nice to see a smart woman put down a self-important and not terribly bright member of the Senate. The bully did not weather the exchange well.

Man comes to the US from Lebanon. Starts out delivering pizzas, becomes a Nobel winning neuroscientist. Trump freezes his funding, he gets an email from China offering to move his lab “any city, any university I want" with guaranteed funding for 20 years. What are we doing?
