135 Palestinians killed in Gaza so far today. Massacre after massacre, day after day. The world does nothing.

1/Almost 9 years ago I was standing in front of the TV in shock and disbelief over the Brexit vote. To be truthful, my anxiety was not because of the predicted economic consequences. It was because the vote showed me that campaigns based on prejudice work in this country. And it went downhill since.

The reality is, Britain economically benefits from immigration and illegal migration is too small to impact most. The communities that blame immigration for decline are actually suffering the effects of 15 yrs of Tory austerity, under-investment in public infrastructure and the reality of Brexit.

Legitimising far right rhetoric is just doing Farage's job for him. My take in this disastrous political strategy, as a lifelong Labour voter. We need to “take back control”… of The Labour Party. Sack McSweeney and stop this, or step down. youtu.be/k8Z5CYvuptA?...

Tackling inequality is the first step on the road to the fairer greener future we want. Once people have a bit of breathing room we can all seriously discuss and plan the next steps to fulfil our needs while protecting and improving peoples rights and the environment.

#Gaza: The Gaza European Hospital, in Khan Younis, the last facility providing cancer-treatment across the Strip, is now out of service after Israeli forces struck it on May 13. This was one of the last remaining lifelines in Gaza's shattered healthcare system.

Starmer knows better than the world’s leading experts apparently 🤔

The dam is breaking.

Starmer denigrates Covid heroes "These are just 33 of the doctors who died trying to save patients during Covid, Keir Starmer. All but two were migrants, or the children of them. They didn’t take time off work & stay out of danger. They gave their lives for us. WERE THEY STRANGERS?" via Louise Raw

It’s beyond outrageous that UK is continuing to supply arms to Israel, when there is - beyond all doubt - a “clear risk” they could be used to commit or facilitate serious violations of international humanitarian law. What else are ministers waiting for? Unforgivable complicity

Mindless destruction From the new Private Eye, in shops now.

Care work is not a low skilled job. It's simply under-paid and under-recognised. Stop this nonsense and start recognising those who look after our most vulnerable, whereever they come from. On behalf of us sane people - thankyou to all overseas care workers Repost if you agree!

Keir Starmer just said “ higher skilled immigrants are more likely to make a significant contribution to our society “ Isn’t working a 12 hour shift in a care home looking after our elderly, sick and vulnerable significant enough for you? Seething 😡

Starmer's Britain. Not even subtle.

Migration is not the problem. The two issues that need to be sorted out, but they won't get a mention, are: Brexit. Proper taxation of the rich, individuals and Companies.

It's funny isn't it, if all the 'low' skilled workers like Care Workers, Health Workers and farmers disappeared we would all starve to death and die. But if all the 'high' skilled workers, like Bankers, CEOs and Politicians disappeared we wouldn't even notice.

Hard to say how disappointing this morning‘s speech really was. Morally AND intellectually. Agree with every line here by @iandunt.bsky.social 👇

This might sound pretty basic but if politicians led their decision-making with “how can I care for people well?” instead of “how can I win power?” I think the world would be in a better spot.

Dumb on so many levels. Demographically: there simply aren't enough Britons to staff the care sector, especially with a growing elderly population. There never will be. Economically: the UK only has ANY kind of GDP growth because of immigration, so ... www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2025...

Left: Yvette Cooper, "We will be closing the care worker visa as well" Right: House of Commons Library, "131,000 vacancies for care workers"

Anyone audacious enough to decide they were fit to run the country when things were in tatters after 14 years of Tory leadership should have had bold, transformational, progressive plans. Starmer did not have those plans.

BREAKING: “We will be closing the care worker visa for overseas recruitment” - Home Secretary Yvette Cooper Don’t we have a desperate shortage of care workers?

Under Labour’s welfare cuts, 1.3 million people with cancer, arthritis and other diseases could lose PIP. They could have just made the very wealthiest pay their fair share. What an absolute disgrace that they are choosing to make life harder for disabled people instead.

"We constantly hear there’s no money left,” Polanski said, “but actually there is a lot of wealth in this country… but we are taxing people who are working really hard far more than we’re taxing wealth.” He added: “that’s totally the wrong way round!” www.newstatesman.com/the-weekend-...

When people cant get the help they need with chronic health conditions you can really see lives start to fall apart. Prolonged time off work, job insecurity, money worries, relationship strain, worsening health, massive impact on mental wellbeing... Because people couldnt get the help they needed.

Labour’s shocking plans to cut vital frontline NHS services must be stopped. Instead of cuts to hospitals and the community in the name of austerity, the government should remove all privatisation, tax the super rich and invest in these services.

I get told “give Labour a chance!” “Where did you expect them to get us, in ten months?” If someone is driving in the wrong direction, you point it out before they reach their destination. They have poor plans for the NHS, and are increasing privatisation. I’m not waiting 5 years to talk about it🚨

On 8th May, we reflect on the courage that led to the end of World War II in Europe. As far-right ideologies rise again and a war is raging in Europe, it is our duty to defend peace and stand firm for democracy and human rights.

Foreigners aren’t the problem, empathy being a foreign concept is the problem.

🚨🧵 We need to talk about child hunger in the UK. Families are struggling to put food on the table and pay the bills. Parents are skipping meals so their kids can eat. We’ve even heard from families who have as little as £1.20 to last them a whole week.

The government was wrong to cut winter fuel payments. It was wrong to keep the 2-child benefit cap. It was wrong to slash disability benefits. Pushing people into poverty is the wrong thing to do. The right thing to do is redistribute wealth and power so that everyone can live in dignity.

Netanyahu — wanted by the ICC for war crimes — has declared plans to ethnically cleanse Palestinians and annex Gaza. This follows 64 days of starving a besieged population by blocking food and aid. The UK must implement a full arms embargo and expel the Israeli Ambassador NOW.

Netanyahu is making a highly explicit call for genocide here, not for the first time. There's absolutely no possible defence or "whataboutery" which can be used a justify a genocide against a civilian population. The world should be condemning this, and standing against it.

I wish the international community - including our own leaders - would call out the blatant annexation of territory and continuing war crime of starving Gaza civilians with total blockade going on for 2 months now.

A few people commented that I didn’t mention The Green Party in my merciless local election roast. There’s a simple reason for that. They’re not c*nts. youtu.be/m_hEhtfLV-w?...

Mainstream radio presenters like Vanessa Feltz are perfectly happy to contribute, in their own small way, to the rise of the extreme far right. Her interview with me on LBC just now was chock full of lies. Calls herself a journalist. Really I wonder how they sleep at night.

The more human population and consumption expand on a finite planet with limited resources, the more wildlife and the natural world disappear Growth economics is the path way to hell Only so much of nature can collapse until inevitable everything collapses

This interview by @zackpolanski.bsky.social was one of my highlights of being awake all night for the elections.

Stay STRONG. This too will pass.
