In phone calls with reporters, Mr. Trump began hinting that he had played a bigger behind-the-scenes role in the war than people realized, NYT. Those remarks were duly reported by the White House stenographers and followed up with off record comments hinting at more. 1/2

How Trump changed his mind on Iran. Really worth a read. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/17/u...

Bob trying to get in his regulation 23 hours a day of cat zees.

Looks like Netanyahu totally suckered Trump into fighting his war with Iran www.nytimes.com/live/2025/06... No one ever said the guy was very sharp.

Paddy’s Wigwam is no more!

I’ve got tofu. Is it catching? #TheArchers

When I met Carney at IMF meetings what struck me most was his suiting. He wears the most elegant suits I have ever seen. Here he at the G7 is pictured next to a fat orange chimp in a ghastly get up.

My youngest used to wear his cockade on March 15 and was a very proud Hungarian. He was a bit miffed to find out he wasn’t.

Shifty Jimmy Savile was photographed with just about every British politician of the last 60 years.

What do aircraft carriers do when they are not ‘heading to the Gulf’ in dramatic fashion as the drums of war beat louder? www.reuters.com/world/china/...

It’s a relief to realise one is not alone.

When you get spun by the White House PR machine. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

Really interesting thread here.

Strikes me that British folk going on about the quality of American marching have missed the point. If you think this is normal…

When I go, I want this chap to write my obit.

observer.co.uk/news/politic... “Countries are taking matters into their own hands, ” says Ivo Daalder, former foreign policy advisor to Bill Clinton and Barack Obama. “North Korea may decide this is a good time to take a chunk of South Korea.” Is this really top level geopolitical thought? Bollocks.

We’re going stripy this #Caturday as Bob shows his razzle dazzle camouflage.

I do understand that football journos are a step down from royal correspondents when it comes to integrity and impartiality, but how has the NYT managed to find one even more blinkered than Jamie Jackson?

Good to see the DC Trump stenography team is still going strong.

When climate deniers argue that atmospheric CO₂ was higher in the past, it's idiotic. Humans evolved to live in the current climate, and we built our society and infrastructure accordingly. The atmosphere didn't have oxygen billions of years ago, and we certainly don't want to return to that.

Quality journalism. The Telegraph won’t be the last.

Duh! ‘Companies that use steel and aluminum to manufacture products like washing machines and dishwashers in the US have had to pay higher costs for the steel and aluminum they purchase. That, in turn, makes their products more expensive — and less competitive…’ www.nytimes.com/2025/06/12/u...

It is not just me that finds the vapourings of Ireland’s favourite tabloid format newspaper over Paschal Donohoe and the European Central Bank far fetched. When they were pushing the IMF job I was told by breathless Indo editor Yellen had endorsed him by being nice to him at a Dublin presser.

The spending review keeps government spending roughly constant as a share of GDP. That is a problem when we know the health share has to rise. Its a problem politicians and the media struggle to be honest about, particularly in its implications for non-health services or tax.
