meta is spying on android users' browsing data in an even sleazier and sneakier way than previously known this is the stuff you get when you live in a country that's too corrupt to pass a modern privacy law

If you've ever used ACX to produce an audiobook, they sent out a survey today. Please let them know how much you hate AI. I know I did 😏

Remember when NFTs were inevitable? The plagiarism bot has more and louder rubes, but it’s just as much a grift, and we don’t have to agree to it.

Any suggestions where I can find a karaoke (instrumentals only) version of this delightful song? (I don't know if Al Stewart composed the tune or not.) https://youtu.be/0adAIO2tiDo?si=C4LM5AIIiguB90er

If you visit this major corporate news site with an ad blocker, you see the first image below. If you turn your ad blocker off, you see the second image, in which there is LITERALLY NO VISIBLE CONTENT -- it's all obscured by ads and pop-ups. No wonder people are ill-informed.

@support.bsky.team In the iOS app, if you tap on a post that contains a video—to copy a word from the post text or look up the definition of a word—after you select text, the pop-up immediately dismisses. Probably related to the video causing the screen to auto-refresh several times per second.

Satisfying to realize that back when Trump and JD were ambushing Zelensky in the Oval and vowing to sell him out to Putin, the Ukrainian president was hiding this intel from them the whole time.

This long thread from the CEO of Kobo has paused my finger from pressing the "delete all my books from Kobo" button. If they actually are doing what he says they're doing… well, they still have a serious communication problem about it, and the devil's in the details. But I'm willing to listen.

'Actually it's just some guys' strikes again. www.ibtimes.co.uk/builderai-co...

1. So I have a few thoughts on Elon Musk, ketamine, Samuel Taylor Coleridge, opium, Hitler's meth habit, William F. Buckley and the most pathetic acid trip in history, W. H. Auden, cocaine, Aldous Huxley, the CIA, and Silicon Valley, as well as other related matters.

Just got this update from Kobo which says it's going to use AI to read my works to "enhance" discoverability and marketing, and determine the "suitability" of the works and "adherence to Kobo’s Terms of Service" among other things. Which is why I'm immediately pulling my books from Kobo.

I don't remember that New Yorker piece?

🚨BREAKING: Leader Schumer promises to "fight tooth and nail to strike" provision in GOP budget bill making it harder for judges to hold Trump administration in contempt of court. "Republican’s naked subservience to a lawless President is gravely dangerous and Senate Democrats won’t stand for it."

Already massively more expensive than Saturn V, but that’s ok, it’s projected to be much less efficient, if (ha!) they can get past the 100 percent failure rate. NASA kicked their ass more than 50 years ago. www.planetearthandbeyond.co/p/starship-d...

Trump bragged about spending $1B bombing Houthis while getting Reaper drones shot down and losing two fighter jets to the bottom of the Red Sea while accomplishing nothing and leaking it in Signal, while “you don’t have the cards” Zelensky wipes out 40 bombers deep inside Russia.

Your key takeaway from the brilliant Ukraine attack with small drones into Russia shouldn’t be “wow, small drones make it so easy to score huge hits,” it should be “wow, Ukrainians are insanely good at covertly planning and executing extraordinarily difficult missions of which drones are one part”.

Anecdotal backup: Recently we were at a small regional airport with vast, Sahara-scale extra parking. Parking areas on the order of a pro-football venue were *full*, wall to wall, with unsold Teslas. As in the photo below. And these were "normal" Teslas, not the ludicrous Cybertrucks.
