A politician knocked on my door today. Only time in the 5 elections during the past year.

To add to @aaronwherry.bsky.social ‘s point, what has been fundamentally missing from the conversation is that BC’s prosperity no longer rests on extractive natural resources, but on our attractiveness to globally orientated, high productivity service workers & firms. Oil spills don’t fit with that.

for *whatever reason* more people are entering local politics with the philosophy of “everyone is corrupt, and if I’m the mayor that means I can do what I want” but municipal governance is designed to be collaborative, and if a majority of council disagrees with you, it’s a formula for disaster

In all seriousness: I criticize the language in order to be helpful. This is a tough time for Canada. We need to put out best foot forward. I'm concerned that the government will embarrass itself by using words bound to irritate our allies and mislead people. www.theenergymix.com/hoping-for-d...

Let's think of all the ways this money could be used to get cars *off* the road entirely, clearing the way for all those trucks trying to get across the country. A tunnel for nation-building?🤦🏻‍♀️

The NDP lost 100 seats in the student vote last night. Young people want a housing future that offers options beyond "a tiny apartment or waiting for 20 years on a social housing list." The Canadian left needs to create a positive, middle-class vision for the future.
