Game 172: St Patrick's FP 7-0 Drumchapel Amateurs. A surprisingly one sided game given Drumchapel topped the league pre-game. Very impressed with St Pat's, who scored some lovely goals. One to forget for the Drum. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Out at the amateur fitba again, as Caledonian League First Division title contenders St Patrick's FP and Drumchapel Amateurs go head to head. The game is at Tontine Park in Renton, very close to where Renton FC, two time Scottish Cup winners once played. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Game 171: Johnstone Burgh 1-1 Tranent. 4-2 on pens. Burgh win the Scottish Junior Cup for the first time since 1968. First half was poor, but it livened up into a good open game after half time, with Burgh finishing strongly against ten men. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Pie review: Scotch Pie, Broadwood Stadium. One of the better mince pies of the season. Plenty of filling, moist not dry and with that peppery hit to see off any danger of blandness. Some excess flour on the lid but didn't detract. 💷 £3.50 ⭐️ 7 #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Its advantage Tranent at Broadwood, with the East Lothian side leading Johnstone Burgh 1-0 at the break. A nicely taken near post header by Girdwood just before half time is the difference. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Back at the football today, and it's another staple in my calendar as Johnstone Burgh and Tranent contest the Scottish Junior Cup final. This competition has its detractors, but the final remains the biggest game in Scottish football outwith the SPFL. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Game 170: Broughty Athletic 1-0 Downfield. Downfield played a fair chunk of the second half with nine men but they were pushing for an equaliser in the closing stages. A great effort from them as Broughty failed to find a second goal. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Pie review: Scotch Pie, @Tayport FC. I liked this one. Pastry a bit scruffy, or rustic if you prefer. The beef (rather than traditional mutton) filling was well seasoned and flavourful. Would have liked more of it, but good overall. 💷 £2.50 ⭐️ 6.5 #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Half time at Tayport and Downfield have a mountain to climb. They conceded early to Broughty and had a man sent off about ten minutes before half time. Been a decent game with a good physical edge. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Football night again. Up to North East Fife, for a Midlands League Cup final between Downfield and Broughty Athletic. Tayport's Canniepairt is the neutral venue, one of the better non league grounds in this corner of Scotland. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Game 169: Drumchapel Amateurs 2-1 St Mungo. Drumchapel scored within the first ten seconds, but made hard work of the win, missing a second half penalty. St Mungo were in the game right to the death, hitting the bar at one stage. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Dipping my toe back into the amateur game tonight as Caledonian League sides Drumchapel Amateurs and St Mungo contest a cup semi. Glenhead Park in Duntocher, aka 'the Hibby' is the venue - a ground that wouldn't be out of place in the West of Scotland League. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Game 168: Clydebank 2-0 Musselburgh Athletic. Clydebank win promotion to the Lowland League by a 3-1 aggregate scoreline. Deserved win on the day, though Musselburgh will be disappointed with both goals, one a defensive error, the other a penalty. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

A goalless first half at Holm Park. Clydebank have been the better side so far, but wasteful with the chances they've had. Musselburgh dangerous on the break, so tough to call at this point. We might need extra time. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

I've dragged my alcohol ravaged body out to the football. Another big one as Clydebank and Musselburgh Athletic play off for promotion to the Lowland League. It's a disgrace league champions have to go through this, but all driven by self interest. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Game 166: Livingston 1-1 Ross County. A last ditch VAR intervention hands County a draw. Looked very soft but we've seen it all before. Felt Livi bossed the second half and deserved the win. Second leg on Monday... #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Livingston ahead at Almondvale. Fairly even game where Ross County started strongest and forced a top save from Prior. Livi have played their way into it and lead after Wilson smashed in amid a goalmouth stramash. All to play for. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Back here again. It's almost becoming a habit 🤣 A big game for Livingston and I strongly fancy us to turn over Premiership strugglers Ross County. I reckon a win is necessary to take up the road for Monday's second leg, and I think we'll get one. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Game 165: Bonnyrigg Rose 0-0 East Kilbride (1-3 aggregate) EK achieve their ambition of bringing SPFL football to their town. Bonnyrigg unable to exert pressure; might have been different had a second half effort off the bar gone in. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Pie review: Buffalo Chicken Pie, Bonnyrigg Rose FC. This piqued my interest. Filling was chunks of chicken in a spicy batter. Found it a bit dry and fairly bland to be honest. Some additional buffalo dressing would have made all the difference. 💷 £3 ⭐️ 6 #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

No first half goals at New Dundas Park, which means that East Kilbride still lead 3-1 on aggregate and are on course for League Two. The Bonnyrigg keeper made one absolutely tremendous save to prevent them extending their lead. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

The League Two play-off is a staple on my fitba watching calendar. Today Bonnyrigg Rose are trying to save themselves against East Kilbride, who have failed at this stage three times before. They have a 3-1 advantage at the outset today though. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Game 164: FC Pather 1-3 Steins Thistle. Allandale based Steins win the Scottish Amateur Cup for the first time. One of the better amateur finals I've seen in terms of quality. The Pather goal was an outstanding free kick worthy of any game. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

My first of several end of season visits to Hampden this evening. This one is for the Scottish Amateur Cup final, which involves two sides from the Scottish Premier AFA this year - Steins Thistle and FC Pather. Pather won the Sunday version a few years back. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Game 163: Kirkcaldy & Dysart 3-0 Edinburgh College. A comfortable win for the home side albeit the visitors were well in the game until the third goal came along with fifteen minutes to play. A good effort from both sets of players on a dry and dusty park. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

As a wee addendum to tonight's pie review... not just any brown sauce at Kirkcaldy & Dysart... #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Pie review: Steak Pie, Kirkcaldy & Dysart FC. The 'cafe' price list advertises the supplier, which is always a good sign. Cracking effort, especially the beef filling. Being slightly churlish, the gravy ratio was a just too high, but it all tasted magnificent. 💷 £3 ⭐️ 9 #davesfootballtravels

It's football night and I've ventured to Fife. I've not been to Alex Penman Park, where Kirkcaldy & Dysart play, since 2018 and it's been hugely improved since then. New loos, pie hut, stand etc. They host Edinburgh College tonight in a East of Scotland League Cup tie. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Game 162: Royal Albert 2-2 Campbeltown Pupils. A last kick equaliser gave Pupils a point that I felt their efforts deserved. I expected them to tire in the second half, but their energy levels were excellent. The game was a good watch all round. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

A one goal lead for Royal Albert at half time. They've been the better side and could potentially have added more goals. Campbeltown Pupils are competing well, have had half chances and a penalty shout that the young ref turned down, correctly in my view. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Pie review: Scotch Pie, Royal Albert FC. Albert have changed supplier since I was last here and had a dreaded Bells pie. Enjoyed this one with its traditional mutton filling. Had a nice moisture to it, but not greasy. Pastry nice and crispy. 💷 £3 ⭐️ 6 #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Hungover today after my Downfield day out, but in the guise of getting fresh air, I'm at Tileworks Park where Royal Albert are hosting Campbeltown Pupils. Pupils are playing their second game in 24 hours having lost to Newmains in Campbeltown yesterday. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Day out in Dundee today and the weather couldn't be better. Giving Downfield's hospitality deal a go as they play Lochee United in a League Cup game. If it's as good as Lochee's hospitality was last year, it's going to be a superb day. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Game 160: Armadale Thistle 0-0 Bo'ness Athletic. Abandoned 38 minutes due to player injury. The ref called it off half an hour after waiting for an ambulance to arrive, which it did as soon as the announcement was made! All the best to the injured player. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

We've got a long stoppage at Armadale after one of the Dale players fell awkwardly and seemed to break an arm. If you were close enough, and I was, you could hear a horrible snap. Ambulance awaited, abandonment likely unless it arrives fairly soon. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Pie review: Dale Doner Pie, Armadale Thistle FC. The original and best in the kebab pie genre. Why? It's all about a tomato based chilli sauce that absolutely zings. Along with the thinly sliced 'meat' it delivers proper doner kebab vibes. Superb. 💷 £2.75 ⭐️ 9 #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

It's football night again. I've headed east, to a place I know well. The 'Volley' is one of my all-time favourite grounds. Big game tonight as Armadale Thistle host Bo'ness Athletic for a place in this season's King Cup final. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Game 159: Partick Thistle 0-1 Ayr United. Advantage Ayr after a forgettable first leg. Jamie Murphy's goal was the difference in a game of few chances. Thistle struggled to create much, which doesn't bode well for Friday's second leg. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

It hasn't quite caught fire at Firhill yet. A stop-start first half, not helped by a card happy ref and various injuries. Thistle have come closest with a Graham header which was well saved. Oakley looks like he could nick one for Ayr. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Pie review: Steak & Sausage, Partick Thistle FC. Thought they'd sold me the wrong pie, such was the dearth of sausage in this. One wee bit just before the end. Decent steak content but pastry not good - a soft bottom led to structural issues. 💷 £4.50 ⭐️ 6 #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Diving into the Premiership play offs tonight, as Partick Thistle take on Ayr United at Firhill. A vested interest as my own team lie in wait in the semis. Ordinarily, these are two sides I'd happily see back in the top flight, but not this year. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

Game 158: Hamilton Accies 0-1 Motherwell. A harsh scoreline on Accies, who were the better side for much of the game. Motherwell's goal was controversial in that it appeared not be given at first, but the ball was deemed to have crossed the line. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

A goalless first half at Hamilton. Hasn't been thrilling. Two teams urged repeatedly from the sidelines to 'keep the ball'. They haven't done much with it, though Accies were unlucky with a curling shot that cannoned off the post. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️

No work today, so down to New Douglas Park to see how Hamilton Accies and Motherwell are shaping up at Under 18 level in the Club Academy Scotland Elite League. Might be the last time I see an Accies game here given recent developments. #davesfootballtravels ⚽️
