A worthless non-apology. The issue isn't whether some words in his speech matched some words in an Enoch Powell speech. The issue is *the substance* of his speech, which he still explicitly stands by.

We've all had the experience of misunderstanding a word in a foreign language. But how many of us, having had our misunderstanding corrected, continue to insist on our wrong understanding of the word? Very weird behaviour that practically the entire US media and political class is indulging in here.

I am so proud of my branch right now, and I want everyone to remember that NOTHING is ever over until you decide to roll over. It is always in your power to keep a fight going and to win.

Merely confirmation of what was clearly happening. Palestinians on the ground have repeatedly described these aid distribution sites as "traps". This is what happens when armed forces steeped in racist ideology are sent on a mission of vengeance, and granted months of absolute impunity.

Because it harmed him politically, one can assume. Not because it endangered racialised Others who he clearly sees as an convenient punchbag.

The sheer passionate commitment to flinging thousands of disabled people into poverty is really quite something.

Once again @lioneltrolling.bsky.social nails it, and why when people ask me if I'm worried about Mamdani I look at them like they have three heads. www.unpopularfront.news/p/what-it-to...

Axios is wrong— he did not dodge the question, he answered it directly by saying he thinks Israel has a right to exist as a state with equal rights for all. If you think that's incompatible with it being a Jewish state then that's your problem.

The biggest security threats facing people in the UK right now are the climate emergency (which is existential) and the manifold threats to their economic security caused by the dire state of British capitalism The threat of Russian tanks rolling up the M20 toward Whitehall is not high on the list.

This is a Hall of Fame reader comment on a very reactionary op-ed about Zohran Mamdani's victory that was published in my local paper today.

These aren't mom and pop grocery store owners forced to pay protection money to the local mob boss. They're leaders of some of the richest nation states in the world. Grovelling and selling out their national interests to a neo-fascist is very much not the only thing they can do in the circumstances

The governing faction famously won the party leadership by deceiving members about its policy intentions rather than debating them honestly and openly. And you can see why. To the extent that they have any policy ideas, they're so bad that even their own hand picked supporters won't vote for them.

Tens of millions of Europeans will be materially worse off as their governments shift resources from social programs to militarism. All on the demand of a foreign neo-fascist regime that they didn't even try to stand up to. So much for "defence" and "national security".

Enjoy :) We don't get enough good news. And this is really good www.theguardian.com/us-news/gall...
