among the other reasons this is dumb, i maintain that the active ingredient in that ad wasn't the "kamala is for they/them", it was the "president trump is for you". the second line worked because of the transphobic narrative framework, but copying the transphobia will not give you voter appeal

A lot of popularists argue they're not transphobes, just acknowledging the American electorate are, but that doesn't explain why they raise the salience of the issue. If I liked trans people but thought most voters didn't, I wouldn't constantly publish We Need To Talk About Trans Kids articles.

"mom, i want good criticism of rationalism from the left!" "hush child, we have left-critics of rationalism at home" the left-critics of rationalism at home:

telling people to kill themselves isn’t biocosmist because the first rule is live forever

actually, i want to clarify: i am currently burned out and it will be a *long* time before i get to this most likely. so please steal my ideas!!!

okay bluesky has the mandate of heaven

alright, my compromise position: i'll build something to make this place livable and then come back. (and i'll also be back when disconnecting from the hive gets to be too much for me)

question: can atproto implement downvotes?

hot take: this is like half as corrosive to good discourse as the people telling everyone to 'kys' because it still increases the hostility of the platform

i will never leave this place, but i will probably try to use the flexibility of atproto to make this place livable
