The Vauxhall Chevette was swimming against the tide by 1981, as one of the last rear-wheel-drive ranges in the small family car class. The top-spec GL hatch and saloon had appealing looks and continued to appeal to conservative UK buyers, while the estate car was a tough workhorse. #weirdcarbs
