Could you imagine the response if a democratic president said they didn’t know if they had to uphold the Constitution? How fast would the articles of impeachment be drawn ? 20 minutes at the most

I understand that businesses need to make strategic decisions, but this is just plainly unethical. You're not improving privacy or security if your intent is just to make an external site *sound* dangerous to your benefit. That angle that is often brought up is not valid here.

Just incredible stuff happening in American capitalism these days, when you can be worth over $200 billion and still be brought to heel. For what? What is this kind of wealth and influence supposed to even buy you anyway? www.theverge.com/news/658008/...

I switched away from Chrome as my browser of choice over 5 years ago, but I think this would eliminate any chance there ever was that I would return to using it. The last thing the top browser in the world needs is more AI slop.

Currently restoring this 20 year old Dell Latitude D610 to its former glory. This thing is a tank. My mom had used it up until 2015 and it was previously running Linux (elementaryOS 0.3.1, to be specific). It makes a nice machine with impressive I/O for messing around with legacy Windows software.

Saw this strange change when using YouTube Music today where the release year replaced song duration in the queue. Not even ten minutes later I saw a post on Reddit about it and the YTM Product Manager confirmed it's a bug.

I'm cracking up at Facebook comments saying things along the lines of "My car is paid off, so I don't care about car prices going way up due to tariffs." The cult is real.

So good. 🤡 @brendanvduke.bsky.social

Gemini isn't exactly giving me much confidence in its ability to replace Google Assistant when that eventually happens. Results are inconsistent, and even doing something as simple as turning on a light seems to take a lot longer. I'm curious how this transition plays out.

He deserves all the scrutiny he's getting and he knows it.

This is America now. Give the president a couple million dollars, and you too can get away with all the crimes you want.

hey is it efficient to leave sensitive data and devices in the hands of people you've fired for no reason with no plan to recover anything (great reporting by @justcalma.bsky.social and @miasato.bsky.social here) www.theverge.com/policy/63209...

Great writeup from @ericmigi.com on the current situation with third-party smartwatches on iOS. I knew it was bad, but not to this extent. I've been ruined by watches with E-paper and transflective displays to the point where I wouldn't be able to move over to an iPhone. ericmigi.com/blog/apple-r...

Preordered this one. Can't wait!

I'm honestly quite pleased with how long these 2nd gen Chromecasts have been supported and working, but it's still frustrating that there has never been a proper replacement for the Chromecast Audio. Even a Nest Mini with a 3.5 mm jack would have been fine. www.theverge.com/news/628194/...

The inclusion of the word “illegal” is meant to preserve plausible deniability but the purpose of this statement is to suppress dissent that the First Amendment protects, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

I have covered presidential politics for 40 years. This was the most juvenile display by a President and Vice President I have ever seen. Other presidents treated their enemies with more respect. This is a low point and a dark day for the US. Totally embarrassing.

SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONS! THIS ONE’S FOR YOU PHILLY!

It's crazy how much better Bluesky is than Threads even in the midst of Threads stealing its features. My custom feed order over there suddenly got removed and the 'For you' feed is being forced as the default again. You won't see that happen here. Of course that's only scratching the surface.

As usual Trump is pushing a massively exaggerated interpretation of executive power to impose tariffs - I don’t know if “sure, fentanyl is an emergency” supports “broad tariffs on everything from three countries” and I can only assume litigation is to come www.law.cornell.edu/uscode/text/...

Here we go...

OpenAI scraped the internet and copyrighted material, and now it’s suddenly concerned about plagiarism ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I took my old Pebble Time out of storage after seeing the big news of a return. It got its first charge in years and it seems to still work remarkably well. Of course I've yet to see how long the battery will last, but it's fun to check this thing out again and explore the apps I've missed.

This is the best news I could ask for in tech this year.
