Maybe it began when Trump declared, with god-man-like aplomb, that he could shoot someone in Times Square and not lose a vote. Certainly, by January 6, 2021, cult had gone from being a political jab to an art—explaining the invincible thrall in which Trumpism holds millions of Americans.

It wouldn’t be hard to protect Medicaid and funding to rural hospitals and still reduce our nation’s ballooning debt and deficit. The Rs would just have to make the wealthy and corporations pay slightly more in taxes. (PS Rs are never serious about the debt and deficit when they are in power).
