Stellantis scraps plans for Illinois battery plant, parts hub www.automotivedive.com/news/stellan... 🔌💡 🔌🚗

So, in recent years we’ve been going up >3pm/yr. Very roughly, if +2°C is 450-480ppm, if we don’t slow down we’re going to tap +2°C in 8-18 years …

It's pretty much impossible to read this and not feel some kind of existential horror. Like, what are we all doing?

phys.org/news/2025-05... small bit of good news

a lot more of this kind of news coming

I am curious what you think of this piece: thebreakthrough.org/journal/no-2... In this new era of high deficits and fossil authoritarianism, I am not sure an "IRA2" is possible. What's the alternative? Back to a carbon tax? Muddle through until the next Covid provides a stimulus opportunity?

I highly doubt this is going to work, but it will require dropping the idea of mandates and timelines probably

Quite the week between the final revisions to tax credits in the passed reconciliation bill and senate aiming to undo the CA waiver today. Hello higher energy costs. Get ready to pay at the pump and on your energy bills.

Save me Senator John Curtis and Lisa Murkowski, please save me.....

If you are only *now* concerned about multi-metre global sea level rise from ice sheets, even at +1.5C global mean temperature rise, then you haven't been paying attention. It was in the last IPCC reports, there have been multiple studies published and policy briefs. We know it's coming. ❄️🧪🥼⛏️🌊

Since this Climeworks story is now ripping through socials, it's a good time for a little thread on the piece Early responses have all been dunking on DAC, but this is bigger than one technology What does the piece get right, what does it get wrong🧵 t.co/yXQpknzOU7

let's hope they can sort out their issues, or others with a similar approach can. because we are going to need it or we are all cooked.

here's hoping the moderates in the house (who will probably fold) at least inspire the senate to make some serious changes to eat least preserve nuclear: www.eenews.net/articles/def...

Figure of the day: Over the last YEAR, Copernicus' extrapolated date for breaching 1.5C of warming (based on the 30-year trend) has moved FORWARD (aka "sooner") by 19 months. Think about that.
