If I’m understanding this story appropriately, the suspect’s family has been detained, with the possibility of deportation, despite not having even been accused of having any involvement with any crime, nor even suspected of having an undocumented status.

I’m old enough to remember the scads of white nationalists who came out of the woodwork during the 2016 election cycle. This is revisionist history at best: there were multiple “Blue Wave” elections, and Democrats did nothing substantively to make sure this couldn’t happen again.
