San Diego neighborhood makes ICE agents retreat

Jonathan Joss--voice actor of John Redcorn from King of the Hill, and Ken Hotate from Parks and Rec--was killed in a homophobic hate crime today. I'm so angry.

Insightful essay and I recommend this book!

These people are just wrong about literally everything.

Me walking out of the bus on MTV’s Next

Rest in peace Jonathan Joss

Jonathan Joss, best known for voicing John Redcorn on "King of the Hill" was MURDERED today as a result of a homophobic hate crime in San Antonio. He and his husband tried to tell law enforcement for YEARS about the hate. They also killed their dog and burned their home down.

This thing right here. The demographic cliff is here and international students are a way for the United States to maintain its tremendous advantages in research and science without busting the treasury, using higher education as an effective 'export good.' Or we could burn it down because woke. 🤷‍♂️

Jake Tapper looking like an absolute idiot tonight, completely missed that Joe Biden was actually dead and replaced by clones and body doubles in 2020. His book proven entirely wrong.

What infuriates me so much about this new operation is that it is literally punishing people for following the rules and showing up to their court hearings. It is so toxic to the basic concept of following the rules. It is an operation designed by people who hate the concept of the rule of law.

Toxic to the rule of law, and yet another example of ICE/CBP deliberately *not* looking for all those supposed criminals, drug traffickers, terrorists, etc. They're going for literally the least dangerous, most law-abiding people they can find, the ones following every rule. The easiest targets.

A lot of people know about the Germans in the space program, but the more relevant engineer might be Qian Xuesen, the MIT/CalTech aerospace professor who co-founded JPL and was sent to recruit the Germans. We deported him the 1950s. He became the leader of China’s missile program.

That’s not the rule and you know it.

Someone ask Gillibrand why she’s ignoring the serious charges against Andrew Cuomo when she insisted the comparatively minor allegations about Al Franken required him to step down

my god, this is amazing. apparently from a NY Times interview with Neill and Goldblum. Resharing with alt text so everyone can enjoy

The fascist machine wants to break community ties because community strength can resist fascism. Individuals with no ties to anyone are much easier to control. Enabling fascism is a feature, not a bug.

When I interviewed KKK leaders in Arkansas, this is what they said too. “We don’t hate anyone. We just love our own people.” Then they burned a cross.

this is with no exaggeration a david duke line

how about we take tens of millions of dollars and fund a bunch of investigative reporters and local news stations across the country without the expectation that they will make a profit

Unironically they should buy up the domains for about 60 defunct local newspapers in swing states. Hire two reporters to write almost exclusively about highschool sports and new restaurants opening with every 10th article about how the local GOP is screwing over people.

Happening right in front of us. After 119 days, Trump's administration has already filed charges against a judge and a sitting member of Congress. Who will they charge next?

covid threw into high relief how many working class people are absolutely necessary to keeping society functional, and rather than that sparking a renewed commitment to an economy that rewards such workers, we've seen an elite backlash against even modest increases in their market power

Sinners (2025)

"I want people to be safe and protected. I want to live on the right side of history. I am an immigrant. My parents are refugees from Chile. We fled a dictatorship and I was privileged enough to grow up in the United States after asylum in Denmark. I stand by those protections, always."

i do not understand how after 50 years in the public eye and more than 10 years in politics, organizations still don’t understand that trump will take every single opportunity he can to humiliate you if you cave to him

It’s important to emphasize that Musk and Trump killed these people and not for any particular benefit, but because breaking something that helps people provided a fleeting thrill in their empty lives

"to easy lol" iconic

This tweet still breaks my brain. He killed two people in a car due to negligence and was sentenced to three years in prison, a penalty completely in line (if not more lenient) than American law

9 people were killed in a tornado last night in KY. The NWS office responsible for that area has faced some of the most extreme cuts by the Trump administration, including the loss of overnight forecasting. Last night, they were rushing to find help for the office. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/16/w...

"It was just a joke" examples have been a staple of every single corporate training video on harassment for at least 30 years. Cuomo is a psychopath and a sex pest

Me reading the headline

Robert “Ed” Smylie, the NASA official who saved the Apollo 13 crew in 1970, has died at 95. He cobbled together an apparatus made of cardboard, plastic bags and duct tape after an explosion crippled the spacecraft as it sped toward the moon.

Baseball's appalling free pass for gambler, tax cheat and alleged statutory rapist Pete Rose isn't just a win for Trump, who pushed for this It's the epitome of Trump's MAGA drive to liberate sexism, racism, and all kinds of gross bad-boy behavior My new column www.inquirer.com/opinion/mlb-...

Police can question you and — even if you say nothing — they're allowed to testify about your "demeanor" and "body language" during questioning. Most judges will allow this as a form of expert testimony. That's why STFU is not enough. You need to explicitly say "I invoke my 5th amendment rights"

My newsletter today contains my thoughts about the Pete Rose reinstatement. Short version: www.cupofcoffeenews.com/cup-of-coffe...

Serious answer: cops don't only arrest guilty people. If they did, my job would be a lot easier. It doesn't matter why the cops are questioning you. If they're questioning you, they're planning to charge you with something. Don't help them. ALWAYS shut up and demand a lawyer. ALWAYS.

Shout out to the disabled community for always showing up, always being on the right side of history and justice, always willing to put their bodies on the line, all for the cause of making sure *everyone* has the basic dignity of health care.

Democrats just flipped the Omaha mayor's office with ads like this. The right-wing obsession with genitals is starting to backfire.

Donald Trump got elected after spending his campaign rambling about immigrants eating dogs and the cock sizes of golfers. Stop trying to map the mind of the average voter.
