Chaotic good (usually). Curious skeptic. Unfucker of clusters. I say what everyone else is thinking. Design is political. I swear because I care. she/her.

my favorite film genre is "extremely competent border collies or other livestock dogs." now streaming on all social media channels plus YouTube.

as I said before, I'm irrationally invested in the mayoral election for a city I don't even remotely live in, but here I am, just amazed at how many quality candidates you have.

100% of Black people self censor at work. Its a job site not your personal safe space, snowflake.

with the Jaws sequels getting a new closer, critical glance, I just need to be a bit of an apologist for Jaws 3. Yes, narratively it sucks, but you should not judge it until you watch it in true 1980s 3D theater experience. Because that was a shit ton of fun.

I am absolutely certain that they used the entire film crew (including the directory) from an after school special for this movie.

I am now watching the 1982 film "Mazes and Monsters" because it keeps coming up on @youaregood.bsky.social, and I'm a nostalgic bitch for the 80s, but this soundtrack is absolutely going to kill me. also, Tom Hanks looks 40 years old in this film where he is playing a college student.

I have like 85% of this and can confirm 1) it is great and 2) everyone who wants this should be able to have it

y'all

this, hands down, has been my number one most consistent fight with developers. users will find amazingly creative ways to both use and abuse your tools (most of the time, with absolutely no ill intent), so you must proactively account for that. that is our job.

feeling very good about my decision to proactively replace the 25yo central air unit last fall.

Literally just… consider the messages and messaging you're being inundated with, and what grooves and patterns and paths of least resistance they're wearing into your thinking.

I'm now watching a New order documentary and as a die hard Peter Hook fan, when John Robie comes on screen I can't help but yell obscenities at him. (Peter Hook did NOT like Robie)

I just think it should not be this hard for commercials to be at the same volume as the TV show/movie you are watching.

I feel like it’s hard to have discussions on AI because very reasonable positions are being treated like they’re saying “all AI bad, good AI impossible.” But we cannot have a reasonable discussion of AI without talking about who is making it and how.

I forgot that this movie hits one of my particular tender spots because they cast an actor who doesn't look like but can believably act like Ian Curtis along with an actor that is a virtual clone of Bernard Summer and then some random dude that has no resemblance to Peter Hook at all.

Yesterday I rewatched the movie "CBGB" (after rewatching "Control"), so tonight I'm watching its UK soulmate "24 Hours Party People."

the human cooling mechanism is sweat, which just...stops working in high humidity, because it won't evaporate. The trope "at least it's a dry heat" is a trope for a reason.

this is amazing.

I am very much regretting planting a single zucchini plant in my little garden. it is the zucchini's garden now .

this is why design is political, and neutral is a fallacy

reading builds empathy--there is an episode of The Hidden Brain podcast ("Empathy Gym") that discusses the link between reading and empathy. www.npr.org/2019/07/22/7...

she's holding my hand

I think the Catholic Church should do this every day in every city

once we are safely through the mayoral primary I very much want a buddy comedy starring these two.

"Hey Jimmy, what do you want to do when you grow up?" Jimmy:

So, the ads for this were out right as we were spending our annual summer vacation at the lake. I was both terrified and fascinated and this is how my lifelong obsession with this movie, and with sharks, began. (I checked out every single library book I could find about sharks that year.)

look at this absolute unit

a candidate so bad that it takes two full pages of 'cuomo sexual deviant' search results before weezer gets a single mention

I've said before you can tell more about an organization by the behaviors it tolerates than by the behaviors it actively incentivizes, and clearly the same thing is true for political parties.
