You’ve seen this movie before: Maybe Reagan guessed, Bush hoped, and Trump tried—but tax cuts never paid for themselves. Given the mountain of evidence, claiming once again that "tax cuts will pay for themselves" is no longer ideologically motivated optimism. It's a lie.

Lander: "It's just gross, racist bigotry. Meanwhile he's running an optimistic, upbeat campaign for a NY where everybody belongs, and I feel proud as the highest-ranking Jewish elected official in NYC to be supporting somebody who would be the first Muslim mayor—what could be more NYC than that?"

I'm going to try and communicate with my Republican colleagues in a new way.

Trump: "People from mental institutions and insane asylums. You know what that is? Insane asylum, that's a mental institution on steroids. During the campaign I'd talk about the late great Hannibal Lecter."

Today's Planned Parenthood decision was a devasting blow to women, and it wasn't even about abortion. It was a devasting blow to civil rights, and it wasn't even about Civil Rights. It's one of the worst decisions from this SCOTUS, worse than you probably think. www.thenation.com/article/soci...

Budzinski: Families making over $700,000 a year will see a boost of $12,000 almost entirely from tax cuts. Shockingly, households making $23,000 a year or less are set to lose about $1600 a year, mostly due to deep cuts to Medicaid and food assistance

one of the projects of the court is to expand the ability of states to pursue reactionary ends and constrain the ability of the federal government to set minimum standards *or* of democratic-led states to expand upon existing rights

Schrier to RFK Jr: You gave Cassidy the answer he needed to hear in order to get his confirmation vote, then as soon as you were secretary you turned around & fired all 17 members. You lied. I also want to be clear that I will lay all responsibility for every vaccine-preventable death at your feet.

Ossoff: We usually get this, which specifies how many folks you intend to employ. What we have is a 26-page PowerPoint. Here, it specifies about $17 billion in cuts to medical services. Who are you cutting? Collins: We’ll have more information as we go forward.

They’re planning on building a detention center for migrants in the middle of the fetid swamps of Florida. If you think this is something new, the first internment camp they sent me and my family to in 1942 was a barbed wire prison called Rohwer. It was located in the swamps of Arkansas.

SATURDAY: Trump bombs Iran SUNDAY: Trump suggests regime change is needed MONDAY: Trump congratulates Iran and says "God bless"

We are posting this placard at all of our offices and asking our union contract farms to post as well. We encourage our friends to put up similar placards at their business as immigration agents do not have the right to go on private property without permission.

Senate Republicans' one-finger salute to rural America: "Hospital networks said they may reduce pediatric, maternity or behavioral health services; end telehealth programs; close rural facilities; or enact layoffs if the Medicaid cuts become law..." www.washingtonpost.com/health/2025/...

The very best people

There is now a thuggish secret police operating in the United States. We are all responsible for this.

“Forget about intelligence” is a pretty good mantra for this administration

After attacking Iran unprovoked, Trump threatens to attack Iran if Iran retaliates.

Large majorities of Americans, including many Republican voters, oppose bombing Iran. They might want to weigh in with both the House and the Senate. US Capitol switchboard: 202-224-3121.

Democratic Congressman from Illinois on US attacks on Islamic Republic of Iran nuclear sites. Via Fox News.

Just to be crystal clear: bombing Iran is completely illegal.

Rick Steves’ episode on Iran is excellent

Fun fact: Congress voted in 2020 to ban Trump from attacking Iran without Congressional approval, but he vetoed it - and they didn’t have 2/3 to override the veto.

Trump: There will be either peace or there will be tragedy for Iran far greater than we have witnessed over the last eight days. There are many targets left

This is reckless, illegal action from the president. He does NOT have the authority to enter us into a war with Iran. He MUST consult Congress. This is not what Americans want. I’m thinking about our troops tonight.

Even though they’re in the minority, Congressional Democrats have a lot of tools they can use here. In addition to showing up at detention centers etc, Dems can grind the Senate to a halt, push impeachment articles against Noem in the House, and more. Flood the zone.

This is damn absurd. Trump said that he would spend two weeks trying to negotiate a deal with Iran to avoid war. He said that two days ago. He clearly did not mean what he said.

"Donald Trump’s real estate organization rented New York office space from 1998 to 2003 to an Iranian bank that U.S. authorities have linked to terrorist groups and Iran’s nuclear program." — w/ Sasha Chavkin and @michaelwhudson.bsky.social in 2016 www.icij.org/inside-icij/...

Bret Baier just happened to be dressed and in studio when Trump announced that we were bombing Iran.

No swimming for kids because of Trump, Stephen Miller, and their crusade of cruelty.

Without making any endorsements, it does seem like in a city of 8.5 million residents, it’s not too much to ask for the mayor to actually live in New York City.

Schools. Parks. Libraries. Roads. Mail delivery... These are provided by our government. They're paid for by the public and are available to everyone. What happens to these public goods when you try to "run the government like a business"? Privatization. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hqn1uD_B70U

“The fundamental civic unit in this nation is neighbor.” - @jelaniya.bsky.social 🇺🇸

Just some creepy armed Mad Max guys trying to gain entry to Dodgers Stadium. ICE says it wasn’t them. DHS says they were Border Patrol. But honestly who the hell knows? They’ve given permission for any psycho to put on a ski mask, point a gun, grab people & throw them into an unmarked vehicle.

There is a stupidity crisis in the White House everyday.

“Oh ……………. migod.”

Why do they keep saying “imagine what they’re willing to do to regular American citizens?” We have seen what they are willing to do to regular American citizens. That is literally the problem!

Like I've said before, if you have any doubts about climate change, just go to a super-boring insurance conference and listen to the super-boring panels where they dryly talk about the growing threat of disasters so catastrophic and unpredictable in scope they simply cannot be insured at any price.

That’s … a detention facility.

So unemployment up. Jobless claims up. Inflation up. GDP down. Dollar plummeting. More wars abroad. Soldiers on the streets at home. By every objective metric, this administration is a disaster.

If they work for the gov / they are Brownshirt cowards It’s illegal to hide your face

In the spring of 2008, I feared America was on the verge of war with Iran — and, believing that it’s good style to get to know people before you bomb them, I made “Rick Steves’ Iran,” a one-hour special that could (and would) only debut on PBS. Sadly, this special has become pertinent again today.
