There’s a bloke on the Victoria Line wearing a hoodie on top of other layers.

This (via @mattmuir.bsky.social's excellent newsletter) is AMAZING: a webcam hand-controlled synth and drum machine.

Rupert Lowe now has a competitor - David Frost - in who can recommend the most overtly racist Twitter accounts, as a recommendation of where to get explanations of racist memes

It's quite remarkable that the elite of the British right has chosen *now* as the moment to go blood-and-soil. When the actual public have probably never been as un-racist as they are.

Once again I find I am not British nor a “true” Londoner despite having been born in zone 1, while Boris Johnson (born in New York), Crispin Blunt (West Germany) and Rory Stewart (Hong Kong) are a-ok.

I originally wrote this a few years ago and have just sent the updated version out to my Substack list (the short answer is "yes" and the long answer is "yes but with graphs")

“Special Report” is a new way for the Standard to say it’s paid Goodhart to write his article again, this time across a whole spread.

OK, it’s time. Fan off, air conditioner on.

This is not what the "Not for EU" label means. The "Not for EU" label is a requirement of the Windsor Framework to ensure products placed on the market in GB can also be placed on the market in Northern Ireland.

This thread is amazing 👀

How the hell are you people wearing two or even three layers of clothing?

You are free to interpret the nature of rice however you wish

Is it just me or does this headline make no sense in relation to the story? This poor woman is accused by a branch of theft and is added to some sort of face watchlist. She is then accurately flagged by the facial recognition systems as being barred. That is not a "facial recognition error".

Gotta have some easy way to get from the Champs Elysees to the world's busiest heliport

The conversation below this is fascinating, on gov.uk and GDS's shortcomings, in the areas of what it prioritised and what it jettisoned (in my view correctly).

Thirty years ago today. I wasn't there, but it seemed such a big deal at the time for a band like Blur to play a stadium, even a small one. Of course a year later Oasis were playing Knebworth. Overall though, not a bad bill for £18.50.

This is good news. But what's odd is that the thread replies are full of Americans who've never heard the word "pedestrianised".

It is fascinating how the London mayor gets so much attention from national press, but so little actual scrutiny - even from outlets that hate him
