There is so much middle ground in this country, and no body talks about it. Media doesn’t cover it. Social media doesn’t cater to it. And politicians can’t run on it. I’ve never seen a time more starved for unity and calm. We shouldn’t be digging in. We should be reaching out.

I’m not friendly with the term “atheist.” I was raised by a Catholic mother, a Baptist father, went to non denominal churches, and still wound out exactly as I was born. Spongy and lacking religion.

Facts and figures are great if you’re science driven, but everybody wants to feel safe. Folks follow digestible messaging now and fear mongering isn’t sustainable. It isn’t hope that drives us - it’s inspiration. So let’s stop sulking and going into our corners. Focus on effective messaging.

@jay.bsky.team I read your interviews, and I love your vision. If you want this to scale and persist, there needs to be a focus on the two key dominoes I see as risks for #BlueSky: An echo chamber toppling moderation > Moderation toppling civil discourse. Otherwise, what's there to learn here?
