really sums up the media’s coverage of the Trump presidency

Donald Trump, a weak and dangerously reckless president, has put the United States on a path to a war in the Middle East that the country does not want, the law does not allow, and our security does not demand.

I was briefed on the intelligence last week. Iran posed no imminent threat of attack to the United States. Iran was not close to building a deliverable nuclear weapon. The negotiations Israel scuttled with their strikes held the potential for success.

Congress? You awake?

Please don’t presume this is now an American president making a serious decision for the good of America, not a malignant despot desperate to be seen as a strong man.

Senate Republicans want to sell off 3.3 million acres of public land to fund tax cuts for billionaires. This is not about housing. It is a scam that threatens our outdoor heritage, wildlife, and public access. We will fight this land grab every step of the way.

Nihilism.

The malleable Republican members of Congress don't appear too worried about upholding their responsibility. open.substack.com/pub/steady/p...

The only reason Republicans have a reputation as "fiscal hawks" is that the press refuses to tell the public basic facts about what they do when they are in office.

Great and still relevant speech as Secretary of Labor

There's always a tweet

Stop saying you’re fine….none of this is fine. youtu.be/SPtMGaYLaas

Very clarifying. Middle income households may see a slight tax cut (sounds good), but the benefit is outweighed by the reduction in government revenues that are used in ways that help everyone. No civilization without taxation!

The Iran situation was under control until Trump broke the deal.

"More than 200 business leaders signed an open letter calling on the Trump administration to reverse its moves against colleges and universities" www.wsj.com/livecoverage...

because political opinion and support reflects social relationships and dynamics, not individual policy preferences or values or individuals' assessment of their material conditions

The president was reportedly “pissed off at the soldiers" whom he wanted to appear “menacing” but instead were “having a good time.” https://trib.al/fr5h3IV

Seems Trump was big mad at Tulsi last week for posting that cryptic video warning about nuclear war, and took it as her sending him a message advising him to not back Israel in the war against Iran. It's made him more seriously consider nixing her office altogether. www.politico.com/news/2025/06...

My entire field is now considered ‘censorship.’ NSF has supported my research since graduate school, so I’ve been painstakingly collecting pilot data for a CAREER proposal that will never be submitted. It’s hard to envision a future for myself in the U.S. www.science.org/content/arti...

Grateful that Brad Lander is using his experience to highlight the biggest outrage; that ICE is re-arresting people who have been 100% compliant with ICE and the courts, with the goal of unlawfully stripping them of a court hearing to juice Stephen Miller's deportation numbers.

I did not have "The Senate version of the Big Beautiful Bill would dump more people from Medicaid & subsequently kill more people" on my Bingo card. But that's exactly what happened. Here are the details from the Senate Finance Committee's draft, released yesterday: prospect.org/politics/202...

It’s so much worse. Lee, Daines Up Public Land Sell Off To 258 Million Acres via @wessiler.bsky.social Call your Senators and Representatives.

I wrote about how the 2020 protests hurt Trump politically. I also wrote about how counternarratives about left-wing violence are just spin — and wildly at odds with the reality of extremist violence. Gift link: wapo.st/3SOEv6e

Well, that didn't last long. DHS told staff it was reversing guidance issued last week that agents were not to conduct immigration raids at farms, hotels and restaurants. Shadow President Stephen Miller wins again. www.washingtonpost.com/immigration/...

“Every single event I did in Russia was shut down by the cops,” she posted on Instagram, “and now it’s starting to feel a lot like Russia.” www.theguardian.com/artanddesign...

This is an absolute betrayal of promises made by Congress to protect the people who protected American soldiers. A betrayal by people who think American greatness is based on half-assed military parades rather than being a credible ally to those that risked their lives for America.

Trump on LA protests: "Those people weren't from LA. They weren't from California. Most of those people."

In serious countries that are actual democracies, strong mainstream parties force members who do stuff like this to resign, & far right authoritarian parties that do this are shunned from government. Here in 🇺🇸, one of our two parties has collapsed into far right authoritarianism. So neither happens.

"Far from discussing being harsh on Putin, this week it was made clear just how much the US government is in Russia’s thrall." open.substack.com/pub/phillips...

KARE 11 TV in the Twin Cities reports that Vance Boelter's best friend says Boelter voted for Trump and is "a strong supporter"

Fox News brings on Rebekah Koffler to talk about the military parade, but she seems to be heavily intoxicated so they cut away with quickness

Cannot stress enough that the protest in DTLA was completely nonviolent until the local police departments showed up Been in contact with multiple indies currently on the ground who confirmed this. Cops pushed, then started firing riot munitions indiscriminately

I know there's a lot going on, but the Secretary of Homeland Security declaring that federal troops are in California and Los Angeles to "liberate" the state and city from its duly-elected leaders really is a fourteen-alarm fire.

House Speaker Mike Johnson calls for the Senate to "censure" Alex Padilla after he was restrained and handcuffed by FBI agents at Kristi Noem's presser, adding that it is "wildly inappropriate behavior." So it looks like Republicans want to escalate this!

BREAKING: Judge Breyer grants TRO to CA in national guard case, finds that Trump violated statute and the Tenth Amendment. Trump must relinquish control of the National Guard. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

This is wrong on many levels. The most ridiculous of which is referring to deploying troops to Los Angeles is foreign policy.

Watching Republicans try not to talk about a US Senator being manhandled, pushed to the floor, subdued and then forced out of a press conference--after wanting to ask questions of a US government official, might be the most chilling moment of the last 5 months.

there was one vote, it was for trump, and he is king of america now and you will obey

Newsom on Trump: "He's lost it. He hasn't lost a step. And I saw him trip on the steps today. This is serious. He is not the same person that I dealt with just four years ago. And he's incapable now of even a train of thought. He's making things up and he's putting people's lives at risk."

A new thug rubicon crossed here with manhandling of a US Senator at a public event.
