wrapped up a Before trilogy marathon at IFC by telling the theater that Cuomo conceded and i have never seen a room go from heartbroken to elated so quickly

it’s hot, it’s primary day, BUT perhaps most importantly, it’s E•MO•TION’s 10th anniversary. if you have five minutes, please read one of my favorite essays ever on one of my favorite albums ever, and remember to love a little more freely, openly, and fully today 💜 web.archive.org/web/20240216...

Editors you have 2 months to find someone who knows something about wheelchair basketball as an actual sport in the real world to write about Drag x Drive. 2 months to find someone who can write about disability in games/sports/marketing. I am not going to forgive you if you confine this to similes.

yes, I voted for Zohran Mamdani but it isn’t just because I believe in his policies and think he’s the best option — his mom told me personally (and everyone in the audience watching one of her movies last night) to :)

they’re assembling the pervert megazord

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

think my tolerance for seeing silly arguments about video game sales decreases every day the New York Times publishes new writing supporting imperialist genocide, trans genocide, mass deportation, and general war crimes. so it decreases exponentially every. fucking. day.

my timeline is such a mess of Donkey Kong lore/hype and people upset about Skrmetti, so I’m just gonna stop doomscrolling for the day and go support @joycelaurie.bsky.social and others launch Picnic Magazine tonight to support trans artists, trans writers, and trans community as a whole.

dictionary, what’s the definition of irony? (inviting zionists to a queer event, and complaining that they’re somehow unjustly unwelcome.)

Nick Frost calling JK Rowling’s funding of antitrans legislation and groups, Holocaust denialism, anti-LGBT bigoty and just general fascist behavior “noise” that he actively chooses to ignore is certainly a choice.

what are soft boy cooks? they’re gentle. they’re seasonal. they’re soft boy cooks.

a pretty important piece about what HR 1 threatens and some solutions to how it can be opposed also our first piece specifically on US anti-trans politics (tho we've had a couple US based pieces before). now more than ever is international solidarity a bare minimum on these issues. kick ass work.

sarah mcbride is an embarrassment

All while pretending it’s about ‘government experience’ rather than ideology. We have an entire intellectual elite that is allergic to clearly stating what they think and providing evidence.

“oh no, younger New Yorkers are excited about and engaged with local politics for the first time in decades, better tell them they’re stupid and wrong and put a stop to it right away” well hey man it worked out so well for national politics, I see why you’d go this route

the New Yorker and the NYT continue to fail miserably at giving anti-Mamdani points beyond “he’s young” and “he’s popular” like, holy crap what a terrible combo! a young popular politician who people like and has progressive policies! the horror!! better endorse the sex pest.

I don't live in New York, but I'll be your mayor if you want me to. Just write me in as your 5th instead of Cuomo. I ain't got a job

two Minnesota Dems were shot, with one confirmed dead, by someone impersonating a cop, and I’m seeing people talk about literally anything else. protect your vibes i guess but also we’ve just reached a new level of fascism so y’know, be aware of that.

@butwhytho.net is an amazing part of the cultural criticism and reporting landscape and you should help them continue to be able to do that!

think someone needs to write a short film/story about this immediately (seen in Bushwick)

i have my gripes with Mario Kart World’s Grand Prix design including the straightaways and not letting you race three laps in a given course, but people *do* know you can still do that, right?? like we are all aware you can make any course a multi-lap normal track? this is common knowledge?? please?

Want to work with Paste’s games team? We’re looking for an intern to start in July. It’d be a part-time gig, and yes, it pays. Email a resume, a cover letter explaining your experience and goals, and links to pertinent writing you’ve done elsewhere to [email protected] by Friday 6/20.

i know absolutely nothing about Brian Wilson and just assume that he’s exactly how Walk Hard satirized him (a genius focused on fun goofy sounds) youtu.be/4KOKlOliQTE?...

like an unearthed time capsule, my review for Lost Records: Bloom & Rage emerges! i love the girls deeply, but golly i did not like this story. the ending is the most befuddled and upset i’ve been in a while. Don’t Nod botched this story hard. the UP (and Swann and Kat specifically) deserved better

Despite Tape 1’s bombshell ending, Tape 2 of Lost Records: Bloom and Rage kills the momentum in favour of more character building and strange design choices that left @dietdeitz.bsky.social cold on the experience. www.startmenu.co.uk/home/lost-re...

Hello new followers! We are an organization dedicated to highlighting and preserving a record of the best writing about videogames. We post weekly roundups roughly every Sunday at our website: critical-distance.com

important to remember, and occasionally cannot be ignored, that politics isn’t cordoned to the places we are told to expect it, but exists everywhere all the time
