I read that the Doomsday Plane was headed to DC. Would I even want to know if a nuclear attack was coming? I’m not sure. Maybe I’d rather just take a good shower and fall asleep listening to a podcast. I just know that I’m deeply afraid, but also feel very still inside.

I just went ahead and marked WW3 off the bingo card. Sure. Why not.

I’d like to see June 14th become a recurring folk holiday where we remind any leader, now and hereafter, that we do not have kings in this country. That way, we don’t forget what’s happened here. Official foods would be tacos or mashed potatoes, of course. #nokings #nokingsday #nokingsday2025

Such a cute resale find!

Found this painting of an imperfect tiger on glass and immediately fell in love. Came from an estate sale for four dollars. It was painted in 1983. We love him so much that he is in our living room.

The ducks by the building like to bring the babies over to say hello.

Lunchtime sashiko practice. I left my project at home, so I grabbed some spare thread in my OTHER sewing bag (somehow I always end up with several) and traced around a poker chip a coworker gave me from their PTO.

Man, y’all really love some quilts! Thank you for the encouragement. It helps me want to keep going.

Something different. I woke up on Saturday morning and decided to finish the top of the quilt I started in 2020. I began working on it when my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer and we ran out of time. I couldn’t stand looking at it, but now I’m ready to finish it.

The TacoBell drive thru had an AI chatbot to take my order at the drive thru. I hated it. They are so creepy and I couldn’t help but wonder about the humans it replaced. @tacobell.bsky.social

Sunday afternoon vibes.

When you are so tuckered out by all the teenagers that were hanging out in your house.

And after that, I started adding more, but that’s for a later post.

More sashiko practice. This is likely the motif for the intro course that I’m teaching in June.

Content creation is like the bat signal to cats.

Work from home lunches are my favorite. A pho inspired soup that uses up some leftovers.

While there is no undo button in embroidery, there are scissors. I decided to add violets instead.

Delusional. Thinking. Is. Very. Real. ✨

WFH vibes with my new intern.

I found a pour over funnel for my cup yesterday at Daiso! Love this!!!

Our new porch light and one of my many, many no soliciting signs that go ignored.

A cozy morning.

It’s been a lovely Mothers Day weekend. I got done stitching done, home improvements were completed, we did some light shopping (local witch shops, Daiso, the post apocalyptic wasteland that was Joann’s) and we watched Practical Magic. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Stitching when you have tired eyes looks different in the morning! 😱 It’s actually not that big of a deal. I will just tuck a few strands into the gaps.

MOAR NATURRRRRRE

Spotted while leaving work. We have a nature sanctuary on the property.

Hanging out at the shop before I set up for our 2pm Embroidery basics class.

Sometimes, I still draw things. This is in my journal. Acrylic paint marker and sharpie pens.

It turned out very soft. I used a grid this time and just had fun with it.

So what I’m hearing is that our already unaffordable healthcare gets MORE unaffordable because we’re not getting medical supplies, and we should all take up homesteading. Cool, cool.

Less chaotic. It’s an exercise in mindfulness. They don’t have to be perfect, but there’s something very satisfying about getting the placement very precise.

Another incarnation of my sashiko practice. I removed all of Saturday’s stitches and ran the scrap muslin through the sewing machine to give it finished edges. And I added a centimeter grid. This time I will use all Aurifil and see how it turns out.

When mama takes a shower and you are TRAUMATIZED because she didn’t leave the door open for you to be the lifeguard.

Spent my afternoon at the shop, practicing sashiko stitching with different types of needles and threads on scrap muslin. The variegated is DMC, and the peach (diagonal) is Aurifil embroidery thread, which stitches like a dream.
