It really feels like there’s a war of attrition against artists lately. It’s not just key income stuff like this, it’s fewer commissions, work devalued, more clients baulking at fees, offers of work for ‘exposure’, more admin hoops to jump through, and of course all the ‘AI’ crap. It’s relentless.

Every system is broken. You don't have to be. Joy and spite are a perpetual motion machine. Ride it all the way to something better.

I believe the preferred term is shut up and take my money.

Happy 99th birthday to the man who gave voice to the wild. 🎉 Sir David Attenborough, thank you for a lifetime dedicated to the natural world, and for sharing its story with wisdom, wonder, and grace. You've inspired generations to fall in love with nature.

Rules!

I jest in part but its wild that Andor is doing such a job of portraying the Pain, Struggle and Sacrifice of building the Rebellion and then some whiny kid with Magic Blood is going to whiz-bang all the glory and medals.

It is fascinating how some older sitcoms stand the test of time so much better than more recent ones. Yes Minister/Yes Prime Minister and The Golden Girls are sharper, funnier and more relevant than anything in the 30 or 40 years since.

In the middle of this one. Brilliant read. Pacy, ferocious and fun.

Hey, who wants something nice? So I was on tour this month, and when I was doing my event for the Princeton University Library and the Princeton Public Library, I ended up at the graveyard, where I found this gravestone:

HP Lovecraft: everyone, this is harry Houdini the famous magician Harry Houdini: hey Stephen King: you know harry Houdini? Lovecraft: oh yeah we've been looking for a project to work on together for a while King: Lovecraft: we already established he's not really italian

Fantastic to see the return of human remains to their original resting place. It’s an acknowledgement of just how far anthropology has come since the nineteenth and early twentieth century.
