Solidarity with trans people today, and always.

If you’re inclined and able, the Trevor Project just lost its federal funding and could use emergency donations to keep its hotline for LGBTQIA+ youth going. I’ve donated.

Also discovered the cantaloupe seeds I planted were actually honeydew. Good thing I like honeydew.

Neglected the garden for a bit but wanted to check before we left. Just a few cucumbers, getting delivered to the food pantry tomorrow. Bottle of vitamins for scale.

Very interesting site for those who want to have a better handle on the virus trends in Texas. Thanks to Dr. Hotez for sharing!

America is one of those countries where if you host a global sporting event, inclusive messages have to be censored to so as not to anger the central government. In this case the message is “racism is bad” www.nytimes.com/athletic/643...

A little over 17 years ago, my husband and I were married at the top of those steps. None of us fell down them either, thankfully. Still is a gorgeous church with a wonderful pipe organ.

Met a new friend on our evening dog walk! Cocoa took one sniff and jumped straight in the air.

People will tell you that they view property destruction as equivalent to violence against a person, but that's not true. They think property destruction is worse

Main course for Sunday Dinner is build-your-own hamburgers, with black-and-blue patties

Sunday Dinner with-its include coleslaw, fries, onion rings, and corn on the cob

No in-process pictures for tonight’s Sunday Dinner. The resident Father has requested black and blue burgers, so we’re doing a dress-your-own burger bar, with sides of fries, onion rings, coleslaw, and corn on the cob.

Plumcot galette was unfortunately juicy and suffered a blowout. Will still taste good, but is not pretty.

Choir director says he’s open to new music, so I’m looking up songs I’ve enjoyed from my old choirs. Found a couple, then had a great typo while looking up “Hark I Hear the Herps Eternal.” Must be a song for mixed voices, frog and turtle.

I think this may be useful for me and may be helpful for some of my followers as well.

Gaming was a success and sausage cheddar balls were enjoyed by all, along with the dips and cookies brought by fellow players.

Final item for gaming snacks tonight, sausage cheddar balls!

I would like my state, every state, to mandate badges, name plates, no masks, for all law enforcement in the state. And if federal agents try to break the mandate, arrest them, then let the courts sort it out.

One Cocoa dog, picked up from the kennel.

Gaming at our house tonight, which means snackies! In addition to the usual chips and guacamole, first creation is Bacon & Blue Cheese Dip

For my Texas followers…

#FridayNightZillow!!

Once again, it seems to me that when a court finds the president is doing something wildly unconstitutional, it is dangerous and unhealthy that we default to “but let him keep doing it until multiple layers of review all agree.”

Mouse table number holder at the bakery/cafe where we’re having lunch. They have entirely too many good looking pastries and I’m glad I don’t live near here or my wallet would be sad (and my tummy happy)

For all its a small town, it has a nice work area in its library

We were staying in a rather small town not near much, so restaurant options were limited. Found an interesting Cajun place to try for dinner last night, but they obviously didn’t want our business, as they had two large Trump 2024 signs on their front fence. We went elsewhere.

We used to stay at a wonderful bed and breakfast in the nearby state park, but it has now changed to only do events, so had to find a different retreat location. Ended up in a cute VRBO and would certainly stay there next year. Master bedroom was western themed, with John Wayne art.

Starting to clean up and pack up the VRBO. Will hole up at local library until camp pickup time. Was reasonably successful. Got one manuscript submitted to its second try journal, one second Accept with revisions reviewer comments loaded up on a response table and apportioned to coauthors.

What my husband eats for breakfast on a writing retreat

Look who's paying people to come to his birthday party

Writing retreat time! At a cabin near the lake my son’s summer camp is on. We’ll get about two days of writing in and then pick up a tired but happy son on Friday. On the agenda, a massive amount of title and abstract screening for a systematic review and getting some more student manuscripts out.

Our friend was back visiting last night!

All the people I still know in LA laugh and laugh when they hear that "Los Angeles is burning." I made a couple of maps to show just how tiny and localized the protests are. GOPers are working really hard to make an excuse for declaring martial law. People should be very wary of that.

One Cocoa dog, snoring on my leg after a big fun day at doggy daycare

always struck by how everyone who screams “we’re full” citing the strain on services is also viciously opposed to the safety net
