Seeing completely unqualified people rise to the top of U.S. health agencies is a deep insult to the doctors who have dedicated their lives to improving public health. It also reflects a failure of our institutions to effectively communicate the importance of evidence-based care.

A new study of 66,000 people across 24 countries found that Gen Z, less educated individuals, and more conservative participants were most susceptible to misinformation—though Gen Z accurately judged their vulnerability, while extreme conservatives were overconfident and less accurate.

If we can't think for ourselves, if we're unwilling to question authority, then we're just putty in the hands of those in power. But if the citizens are educated and form their own opinions, then those in power work for us.
