Seems like the Boulder attack could've been much worse... Also, would be curious to see if MAGA types acknowledge gun control might have been helpful here?

Reminded again of how RFK Jr and many of Trump’s also-ran appointees echo political scientist Richard Nielsen’s “blocked ambition” hypothesis. Basically, if you can’t rise in the conventional social order you seek status elsewhere, often as a fringe, radical or anti-system leader.

Political scientists realizing the NYT has been A/B testing its headlines for years and they don’t have access to the data on which types of frames about politics and international affairs generate the most attention

It does seem like the widespread concern about Palantir may refocus public attention on the threat of corporate power here a little

So dangerous to have the head of the ADL out there undermining and diluting the very concept of antisemitism to axe political opponents at the same time when there’s an historic increase in the last half decade in real antisemitic activity.

In all seriousness, I do wonder if I’ve ever seen a combatant exercise as much restraint — in terms of targets and tactics — as Ukraine has in the face of so much aggression and victimization by its opponent. I say this not to cheerlead but out of genuine curiosity, as a scholar of armed conflict.

Ha! Do people think academics make actual money from selling our books? That this is some Hillary Clinton Wall Street speech circuit?

Not looking forward to the far left discourse on Bluesky justifying this. It’s not event planners for the Israeli govt this time, but maybe they’ll say it’s a crime to show empathy for any Israelis and if you do you’re a target? Never mind the hostage movement is one of the best pathways to peace

It’s also so profoundly reflexive and unscientific. What IS a plausible threshold for Russian nuclear action? Why — how do we know? Is this near that? What evidence should we be looking at to form a judgment? Instead, they just crow like bobble heads that it’s WWIII every time Ukraine does offense

Yeah, I mean to be fair, these are the words voters thought best encapsulated Trump’s campaign. Seems like they knew it was dark…

Wow. These replies suggest that many on the online far left seem uncomfortable not just with the Q of antisemitism on the left, but with hearing or talking about the issue in general now…

In the last few weeks, one friend (a solid D) called Theo Von “fascinating” and “singular” and another (an R leaner) said he heard an interview with Charlie Kirk and thought he seemed very reasonable. We’re so screwed, aren’t we?

How would the press have handled Biden or Harris being addicted to mind-altering drugs while in office?

Trump is nominating Paul Ingrassia to lead the Office of Special Counsel. Ingrassia has ties to multiple antisemitic extremists. He called for X to remove a ban on Nick Fuentes and was spotted at a Fuentes rally, and also appeared at events with an alleged Nazi sympathizer.

What factors shape public support for military withdrawals? Read the latest from CMIST's @dmsilverman.bsky.social and doctoral student Caitlan Feeling, just published in Public Opinion Quarterly.

Happy to share a new piece with my doctoral student Caitlan Fealing out at @poqjournal.bsky.social "Framing the Exit: Pollsters, Public Opinion, and the Politics of Military Withdrawal" We look at the drivers of support for military withdrawals, focusing on framing. (1/n) doi.org/10.1093/poq/...

Dems should hold “TACO Tuesdays” in Congress where they all have a taco lunch with reporters under a big banner of Trump’s head on the body of a chicken. They can talk about Trump’s failures each week there to the assembled press.

Trump always chickens out, except when he thinks you know he’s going to chicken out. I think we’ve found the new Epimenides Paradox.

Why is the US Govt continuing to interfere in the domestic politics and elections of our allies, and why is the Homeland Security Secretary on a lengthy world tour?

Good lord
