Imagine if the headline was, "Vice President acts like a petulant child while using Marines as props"?

Job Garcia’s kidnapping by the Trump administration is the top story on the LA Times website right now. www.latimes.com/california/s...

In Florida, “free speech” and “institutional neutrality” mean that a Nazi arguing that nonwhites have no rights wins a prize while a course with “race” in the title is censored for violated the law. Congratulations to all the credulous centrists who helped this along.

“Donald Trump and Stephen Miller are on the wrong side of public opinion on this, and they’re losing badly in the court of public opinion,” says Chris Hayes. “The more they lean into the cruelty, the less popular it all is.” youtu.be/4Hl6SirHAKU

If you’ve got a badge and a gun but think your actions are shameful enough to need a mask, you should quit.

There was also a pastor in his vestments at the anti-ICE protest outside Dodger Stadium yesterday. More religious leaders need to show up and call these kidnappings what they are.

JD Vance flew into a state where Alex Padilla got more votes than Trump (and Gavin Newsom) and slandered him, using the name of a terrorist.

more than that, he also got her a scholarship (named after his parents) to attend Tennessee Tech. “John has made everything possible that I’ve done in FFA beyond high school,” she said prospect.org/politics/how...

These two unstated beliefs that govern modern punditry have completely ruined for the Democratic strategic response: 1. Trump is immune to traditional political gravity 2. Public opinion is the cause, not the effect, of public action, and we must obey it at all costs

honestly this was very predictable if you could a) accurately recall the political consequences of the 2020 protests and b) take public opinion as it actually existed in 2025. impossible difficulty for a non-trivial portion of the professional political commentary class

I don’t see this mentioned at all about Andrew Cuomo. He’s on Netanyahu’s legal defence team for his ICC claims. nypost.com/2024/11/25/u...

When people support Andrew Cuomo, what they’re saying implicitly is that they don’t care about the women he’s already sexually harassed and retaliated against and they won’t care if he does it again. It’s a political stance that enables discrimination against women in government

"The study shows that such extreme events are becoming more frequent, longer-lasting and more severe, with last year’s figures reaching twice that of the 2003-2020 average. The steepness of the rise was not foreseen."

"It is certainly somehow always flexible enough to secure the majority’s desired outcome": The bracing candor of Ketanji Brown Jackson www.lawyersgunsmoneyblog.com/2025/06/its-...

"The point is to show everyone they are vulnerable.” Government professor @brendannyhan.bsky.social comments on the Trump administration’s willingness to arrest Democratic leaders, replicating an authoritarian strategy to discourage ordinary citizens from expressing dissent, via @bloomberg.com‬‬.

Reporter: What intelligence do you have that Iran is building a weapon? Your intelligence community said they have no evidence that they are at this point. Trump: My intelligence community is wrong. Who said that? Reporter: Your director of national intelligence Gabbard. Trump: She is wrong.

It is true that sometimes New York City is frightening. For example today these men were loitering in the hallway of the 12th floor of the federal building.

Awful. As @peterbeinart.bsky.social notes, neither @schumer.senate.gov nor @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social have signed on to requiring Trump to get cong authorization for war with Iran. As I argued (see below) there should be a bipartisan coalition here. Where is it? www.nytimes.com/2025/06/20/o...

And another thing. The framing of the NYC Mayoral race in a way that excludes the one woman (Black woman) running who just happens to be the City Council Speaker and who arguably has the best resume to lead the City is giving me the ick. I was very struck by this moment in last week’s debate.

The New York Times CONTINUES to release piece after piece spreading disinformation on trans care and dancing on the graves of trans youth in the wake of the SCOTUS decision. Just brought to my attention, from their morning newsletter. Disgusting. This isn't even their big hit piece today.

“We have masked, unidentified agents of the state snatching people off of the streets. We have the government attempting to skirt due process. We have an attempt to revoke birthright citizenship. Maybe the hour is later than we think.” open.substack.com/pub/thebulwa...

Then they came for the children… www.npr.org/2025/06/20/n...

I think it should be a bigger story that the Senate is preparing to confirm five Trump judicial nominees whose answers to questions about the 2020 election are exactly what you would say if you were a “Trump only lost because of voter fraud” conspiracy theorist

Status quo politics is a recipe for losing. Ditch bipartisanship and quantbrain “popularism”, @schumer.senate.gov and @hakeem-jeffries.bsky.social. Get out there and LEAD public opinion, not just mirror it to support the status quo

Day by passing day, we are watching what amounts to a national police riot by ICE. But what worries me is that what we are witnessing is not the actions of an agency that believes it will ever be subject to meaningful oversight or legal authority ever again. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/ice-believ...

it takes a special brand of political incompetence to see millions of people marching against the opposition and not do anything to seize that momentum but it appears dem leadership has decided to do just that

If you have a GOP Senator, call them and tell them to support Rand Paul's Immigration language, bc it avoids wasting money on a problem Trump already solved. They're not going to do that--but it'd be useful if they heard from constituents. www.politico.com/news/2025/06...

Any corporate executive who signs off on a bribe to Trump should be prepared to explain their crimes in front of Congress and to the public when Democrats retake power

this is explicitly not what the law says

Just some creepy armed Mad Max guys trying to gain entry to Dodgers Stadium. ICE says it wasn’t them. DHS says they were Border Patrol. But honestly who the hell knows? They’ve given permission for any psycho to put on a ski mask, point a gun, grab people & throw them into an unmarked vehicle.

War with Iran would be the most catastrophic US foreign policy decision since the invasion of Iraq. It would give Trump vast new authoritarian powers. Americans of both parties oppose it overwhelmingly. So why are Chuck Schumer and Hakeem Jeffries so silent? www.nytimes.com/2025/06/20/o...

"I gotta say protect trans youth. I gotta say fuck ICE. And with my whole fucking chest, I gotta say free Palestine. Anybody watching at home, anybody walking by, you wanna know who said it, you tell em it's the mother fucking Wonder Years from Philadelphia." youtu.be/xIj2Ozlp1y8?...

The conservative movement is lying about basically every empirical "debate" of our time, from climate change to voter fraud to vaccines. Why is it so impossible for reactionary centrists to contemplate the possibility they're lying about trans healthcare too?

Nearly every trans person I know reading the summary of the decision picked up on this within the first 30 minutes of it dropping. Yet newsrooms think hiring trans people to report on our issues is biased.

ICE’s argument that its officers need to wear masks due to a surge in assaults doesn’t hold water. Gift link: wapo.st/4l7a1ch

ICE arrested Job Garcia while he was running errands in LA. Job is a US citizen, a scholar, and a brilliant photographer. He’s also my friend. But none of that should determine his humanity. ICE must release Job Garcia immediately.

if you don’t know the history of Dodger Stadium you can’t fully understand what unfolded today. thanks @chrislhayes.bsky.social for the opportunity to share it.

“Schrader dismissed as ‘completely preposterous’ the argument that ICE agents need masks for their protection when ‘hundreds of thousands of police in the United States go about their daily job of enacting coercive force while having a name plate and a badge number.’” www.msnbc.com/msnbc/amp/rc...

Cuomo Super PAC now running ads quoting the NY Times non-endorsement to attack Mamdani.

Xi Jinping reading the New York magazine piece on Pete Hegseth, eyes darting to a map of Taiwan and back again.

Trump’s way of recognizing Juneteenth 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

“Americans are being forced to accept masked paramilitary forces stopping you anytime, anywhere—demanding to know where people are from,” says @chrislhayes.bsky.social. “It is an assault on the idea of America itself.”

So according to ICE, there was a pack of armed masked men *pretending* to be them at Dodger Stadium? Uh ....

“Well, you’ve left me a little speechless," the MSNBC anchor admitted to University of Michigan's Justin Wolfers.

Trump has iced Tulsi Gabbard. He doesn't speak to his Fox News host defense secretary. Instead he is relying on an increasingly small circle, including his friends outside the White House. What could go wrong! www.nbcnews.com/world/middle...
