🚨Heard about this earlier today; ICE is expanding to arrests at ATD (alternatives to detention) case management check-ins. Dozens of people got texts to show up weeks in advance of their normal check-in, and ended up detained. Three women let go were told to come back tomorrow with their kids.

Keels have already been laid for the USS Roy Cohn and USS Late Great Hannibal Lecter.

Sometimes this means that when you leave the house you need to stop for a second and ask yourself, "am I planning to do crimes today?" and take appropriate precautions if the answer is, in fact, yes.

I dunno, can Minneapolis City Council members win Pulitzer photography prizes? (if it's his photo; I can't tell)

ICE goons roleplaying Call of Duty while in front of a Mexican restaurant with a sign that says “Make Tacos not Walls”, as if the symbolism could get more on the nose

MURRAY: Will you allocate the $220m for literacy programs that Congress appropriated? McMAHON: We're looking at the unallocated dollars to determine which of those programs we can best spend on MURRAY: Those funds were appropriated. It looks to me like the dept is illegally impounding funding

I am just not getting over the fact that the political party in which people made fun of Vince Foster's suicide and called Chelsea Clinton the White House dog has become such a sewer of cruelty

An appeals court stopped a railroad project built for oil extraction and shipping because the environmental review only considered the rail stuff, not the oil stuff it enables. The Supreme Court just overruled the appeals court and sharply limited US environmental review in the process.

It's hurricane season.

Apparently 4.5 GW of generation was unexpectedly offline leading up to the recent New Orleans area power outages, as well as a major transmission line. This article talks about a MISO report on the event and context, but doesn't link to the report. I haven't found it online, either - any help?

Not surprising the FEMA head didn't know we had a hurricane season. He thought it was Wabbit Season.

Cuts have consequences, illustrated. As seen on TV 📺

Still thinking about the Yarvin New Yorker profile, which is a master class in letting the subject hang himself on his own words. So many techies whine that the media is out to get them, writing “hit pieces” etc and really, they just let them talk.

This kind of clear, direct explanation of what’s happening is basic journalism and yet it’s surprising to hear it stated so forthrightly in this mealy-mouthed era.

currency of the realm in republican politics is a blithe contempt for life and indifference to suffering

Big change from February, when Trump called himself "THE KING" because he thought he could end NYC congestion pricing by fiat, and indeed by all domestic car brands, too. Judge: NYC Can Keep Better Traffic, Cleaner Air, Trump Can Sit On It (A Subway Seat) www.wonkette.com/p/judge-nyc-...

I forgot that Trump's proclamation that congestion pricing was "dead" was the occasion of his self-coronation message, "New York is SAVED. LONG LIVE THE KING." Not so fast, bud. Judge: NYC Can Keep Better Traffic, Cleaner Air, Trump Can Sit On It (A Subway Seat) www.wonkette.com/p/judge-nyc-...

Nihilists! Fuck me. I mean, say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.

This sociopath destroyed countless lives and made life worse for millions of Americans, sneering at them as he indulged his narcissistic impulsivity. But now he has feelings. What are they and will he feel better soon? We asked in a six-part series. Today in the New York Times

Breaking News: A woman sued oil and gas companies over her mother’s death in a heat wave. It's the first wrongful death case targeting fossil fuel companies over their role in global warming, experts said.

We attempted to relocate one small Alaskan village because climate change was basically going to destroy it. According to residents, we completely fucked it up. That's one small village. *Millions* of people will need to be relocated in coming decades. We are deeply, deeply unprepared.

I actually genuinely and fully believe what happened recently was that everyone mass left twitter, the Blue Wave and follow farm grifters saw their audience and $ disappearing and raced over here. Then a shit ton of people realized this site couldn’t be monetized and left.

For those not familiar, here's the opening paragraph in the Wikipedia entry for the term "remigration," a term which popped up in Europe over a decade ago and until very recently has not been part of the U.S. political discourse. It is NOT a neutral term. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remigra...

A crazy idea apparently is that a U.S. presidential administration should value all U.S. states.
