For them to make this statement shows how close we are to the mass murder of 2m people. Only at the very last second have they been willing to stop this. And even then let’s see if they’re actually willing to do anything. Their actions are at least a year too late. www.gov.uk/government/n...

So what is the point of Parliament anymore? Starmer seems to not bother passing anything by them.

Great to hear that the BBC has a zero tolerance approach to racism, such as having Nigel Farage on Question Time 38 times

This is a must-read: The Trump administration's use of anti-semitism to attack immigrants and higher education mirrors plans by a group of Christian nationalists in the Heritage Foundation (which produced Project 2025). 🧵 www.nytimes.com/2025/05/18/u...

It can both be good news for farmers and food producers *and* nowhere near where we need to be on the other 90% of goods trade (plus services). But if this is what it takes to do EU deals and prove the sky won't fall in, then great. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cx...

When you think about all the supposedly moral, committed newly elected Labour politicians who are doing and saying absolutely nothing on the horrors facing Palestine, you lose all hope in British politics. Don’t know how they can look themselves in the mirror. Truly disgusting.

Worth reiterating that Tories now like Reform more than LD and particularly Green voters like Labour. Given that there are typically more Cons than LDs/Grns in the seats likely to be Lab vs Reform, the tactical voting arithmetic has changed massively in the last few months.

What are we meant to do? Our governments don’t give a shit that we’re complicit in the genocide of Palestinians. That this will be a stain on all our souls forever. So tell me, what are we meant to do? How do we save them? When will Starmer and Co do what we are screaming for them to do?? 💔

Have said to a few people recently “I couldn’t work for this Starmer government given their increased support to the genocide”. To which they’ve replied “that’s just one issue”. I mean, really? But also, what’s the good stuff? PIP, winter fuel, benefit caps, austerity, green energy “ambitions”…?

Love listening to Trump rambles. Most of the time he doesn’t realise he’s critiquing American capitalism but dressing it up as everybody else’s problem. Private equity ownership, tech company monopolies, health insurance rip offs. Laugh or cry.

Oh, that is unfortunate. I wonder how it happened?

I know the political message is not funny at all but Island of Strangers does sound like a Booker Prize nominee widely acclaimed for its bittersweet polyphonic take on British life

I’m reminded today that “not everyone who voted for Brexit is racist, but all racists voted for Brexit”. And here the UK is stuck 9 years later…

Can’t name one policy that Labour have come up with that makes me regret not voting for them last year. Good luck winning people like me back while losing a whole bunch of others.

As ever, patronising Starmer’s response is “just be grateful it’s the least shit option”. Cool bro. Fancy being a tad more ambitious and setting a vision for the future of Britain that isn’t even more reliant on the large countries bailing us out?

"All the polling shows that the British people think that an improved trade deal with the EU is more important than a US trade deal." Robert Peston presses the Prime Minister on exactly what our polling has found - three times as many Brits want to prioritise UK-EU trade over a deal with Trump.

Winning? 🇬🇧

SUCH A VOMIT INDUCING ARSE LICKER

Good news for UK farmers “The deal will involve billions of dollars of American exports including American beef, ethanol, and other agricultural products, Trump says.” Hang on, not good, the other one

Honouring VE Day. By doing a deal with a fascist. Good look 👍

Given the vibe towards the US in the UK/Europe right now, this feels like yet another massive own goal for Starmer.

Gripping TV for such an important moment

Not sure Starmer can do anything right

Where has the Labour & Tory vote gone here? Labour 2024: Still Lab 47% Don’t know 14% Lib Dem 10% Reform 9% Greens 9% Will not vote 5% Con 3% SNP 1% Con 2024: Con 54% Reform 26% (!) DK 11% LD 3% Lab 2% Green 1% WNV 1% Put simply, this is how Farage becomes Prime Minister. But a long way to go.

Reform took control of 10 councils last week and Nigel Farage has big plans for local government 'DOGE'. But as I have reported previously, the sector has long been periled by financial challenges - Reform may find there is simply no money left. My piece for @newstatesman.com 👇

The Green Party has always been clear, the Government must recognise the state of Palestine. And now Labour are even being outflanked by the Tories on this issue. In the face of clear genocide and ethnic cleansing by Israel, there is only one correct course of action.

🚨Over a dozen senior Tories have written to Keir Starmer calling for the recognition of a Palestinian state. “By failing to recognise Palestine, we send the dangerous message that Palestinian statehood is conditional, while Israeli territorial expansion continues unchecked".

Starmer, Lammy and Co should be utterly ashamed of themselves. Will never forgive them for their role in this genocide.

As someone whose friends, family and colleagues have been deeply impacted by the 100 days of DOGE, this captures a good deal of it very well. Great contributions from @merici.bsky.social and other feds. www.economist.com/podcasts/202...

Top work Starmer and co *slow clap* news.sky.com/story/politi...

"Bruised Tories and Labour left working out how to tackle Reform". Have any sort of plan to help make people better off rather than never ending austerity and zero growth? Britain is being managed (not led) by Mr Bean and a CFO and it just doesn't work. www.bbc.com/news/article...

Good luck with that Staffordshire and Lincolnshire

Starmer’s strategy of being a bad copy of Cameron-Osborne mixed with some half arsed Blair lite and chasing Farage to the right is being met with total voter disinterest. Who knew? They really have no clue. Labour need to replace Mr Bean and double down on social justice or we’re all doomed.

Northumberland and Lincolnshire jeez Louise 😭
