The Colonnade of Perspective at Palazzo Spada was designed by Francesco Borromini in 1653. Located in the courtyard, it creates the impression of a long gallery, despite being only 8.82 meters in actual length. Borromini achieved this effect through the use of diminishing columns and a sloping floor

Galleria Colonna in #Rome was commissioned by Cardinal Girolamo I Colonna in the mid-17th century in order to celebrate the family’s military victory at the Battle of Lepanto in 1571. Its Great Hall measures 76 meters by 10 meters, making it slightly longer than the Hall of Mirrors in Versailles.

The #Pantheon in #Rome was constructed under Emperor Hadrian and was completed around 126 CE. The circular building is fronted by a rectangular portico. Its dome spans 150 Roman feet (43.3 meters) in diameter, making it the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world.

The British #Museum in #London was established in 1753 and is housed inside the Neo-classical building constructed to plans by Robert Smirke between 1823 and 1857. The Great Court was designed by Norman Foster and opened in 2000. #architecture
