I hate this. As an independent platform, Roku should be the ideal media player, unencumbered by ties to a media property. But they’ve toyed with media plays of their own as well as enshittification through ads. I paid for the device. Please. Stop. The line doesn’t always have to go up.

Aside from the battery, there’s no reason my iPhone 15 Pro Max can’t last 5 years. Phones caught up to where PCs plateaued in the early 2010s. They’re so standardized and indistinguishable that you barely gain anything from upgrading. Performance has been “good enough” for years now.

Mayan history is one of my autistic special interests. The influence of cultures from the Valley of Mexico on the Mayans - both at Tikal and in the Yucatán - is interesting as it shows the connected nature of these great indigenous civilizations.
