I like this analysis. Right wing populism is a type of "Friend-Enemy Politics." In my opinion Trumpism is even more strongly focused on achieving victories against perceived enemies than normal RW populism in part due to Trump's personal vindictiveness.

Parties and elites in a healthy representative democracy would have avoided giving mass electorates an up/down vote on (1) Donald Trump as president or (2) whether to leave the EU. Sounds bad, but putting together a functional electoral menu is a normal part of leadership in a healthy democracy.
