Remember folks, the budget cuts for NSF and NIH *can still be stopped*. That is a luxury not granted to our agency science colleagues who have or could still lose their jobs from the top down. So - Fight! Speak up! Pay attention!

#BREAKING: New HHS document details deep NIH cuts as part of Trump budget request www.statnews.com/2025/05/30/n...

I am remembering a moment when Congress was up in arms about plagiarism charges that were no where near as clear cut.

“It is unclear if the president has authority to dismiss Sajet. The Smithsonian’s programming is not under the purview of the executive branch, and personnel decisions for senior-level Smithsonian museum positions are made by Smithsonian Secretary Lonnie G. Bunch III.”

Lower-cost, over-the-counter hearing aids expand access to affordable hearing care, which is often unavailable in rural areas where hearing loss is prevalent, says CPC Fellow Arrianna Marie Planey. markets.financialcontent.com/stocks/artic...

UNC: “We want to keep a low national profile.” (therefore is passive on things that actually matter) Also UNC: Create an internal mess that catapults them into national conversation.

Cooked.

I'm still off socials for a few more days but I came #onhere cuz my sister just shared this article w/ me. I can't stress enough that it is BULLSHIT & pressure must stay on Musk's NECK. Gratitude to all of us who picketed as part of #TeslaTakeDown. Work continues. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/28/u...

Could be huge. Especially for those terminated in the anti-DEI purge. "...NIH will allow individuals whose mentored career development awards prematurely ended on or after January 1, 2025, to be eligible to apply for a new mentored career development award" grants.nih.gov/grants/guide...

A death panel these two, truly.

RFK is the clown of death. Really out here murdering entire groups of people. None of these under qualified individuals should be in power.

Just spoke with my CDC sources: a new COVID-19 variant, NB.1.8.1, is spreading across Louisiana, NYC, LA, DC, Colorado, and more. It's also fueling surges in China, Hong Kong, and other parts of Asia.

“‘Unless [NAJEM, JAMA & The Lancet] change dramatically, we are going to stop NIH scientists from publishing in them’…. RFK’s stance…conflicts w/ that of his NIH director…, who recently [said]…he supports academic freedom, which ‘means I can send my paper out even if my bosses disagree with me’.”🧪🛟

This is contrary to consistent guidance in CDC guidelines for years. www.reuters.com/business/hea...

this is madness

As the parent of a type-I diabetic, I would like to invite the ignorant piece of shit currently directing the FDA to kiss my ass.

The cost of vacationing outside the US is about to go through the roof and tourism dollars are about to tank www.travelandtourworld.com/news/article...

He is interested in securing funding for SOME health sciences research. And even then, no where to be seen or heard from regarding a game plan for the entire university.

Why does this feel like it was pulled from ChatGPT because NONE of those people in office have an ounce of understanding of what research integrity means. Also they keep lying and fabricating data and stories all day every day so they are full of it.

This EO is a lot of words for a rule that basically says, political appointees will overrule scientists in deciding what the government considers factual information.

Something's up (down?) at #UNC. The Bd of Trustees, which has authority over tenure decisions, tabled all at its March mtg & re-tabled all from the College of Arts & Sciences & the non-health professional schools (Law, Biz, etc) at its next mtg. All w/o explanation. #AcademicSky #academicfreedom

There’s a large Covid wave in Asia that’s caused a large uptick in hospitalizations. It’s a warning for those of us on the other side of the world. We need to push for more transparency in COVID reporting. Access to tests and vaccines. It’s not over, and people need the info to protect themselves

The Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) voted this past week "to eliminate diversity programs and partnerships as criteria when it grades the performance of medical schools that confer "MD" degrees to students."

“Life is better when we leap together.” Kermit the Frog delivered a commencement speech at the University of Maryland on Thursday, the alma mater of his creator, Jim Henson. nyti.ms/4dwMuhQ

This #nih funding freeze is happening at Brown, Cornell, AND Northwestern (at least) per all the comments. Anyone else??! #scicomm

“Take a breath man, it’s not that serious.” Unbelievable statement an ICE agent told a man who collapsed after being handcuffed following his immigration hearing. The overzealous agents had the wrong man & would have kidnapped him had his attorney not insisted in reviewing the arrest warrant.

The cruelty is the point.

BREAKING: Judge John Bates, a George W. Bush appointee, holds that Trump's executive order targeting Jenner & Block is likely unconstitutional — "doubly" — and will be blocked in full. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

Living under a dictatorship while attempting to do public facing work ranges from a dumpster fire to impossible.

"Given the fact that natural disasters keep happening, we’re going to keep having shortages." This Medical News article discusses how Hurricanes Maria and Helene exposed critical vulnerabilities in the U.S. medical supply chain. #MedSky ja.ma/4k95SUF

Keep asking these questions, Peter Alexander. Bravo.

Harvard has just sued the Trump administration less than 24 hours after losing the ability to enroll foreign students. They are seeking a temporary restraining order immediately. www.nytimes.com/2025/05/23/u...

Donald Trump’s “Big Beautiful Bill Act” passed the House of Representatives early Thursday morning, and the president couldn’t be more thrilled about being one step closer to kicking millions of Americans off their health care coverage and food assistance programs.

Without the United States, the WHO approved the pandemic treaty yesterday. The hope is that this would improve vaccine access on future outbreaks and pandemic. This is an important milestone. www.statnews.com/2025/05/20/w...

Reading the article and watching the video is really showcasing how out of touch some admin rules are. Children have been part of graduations at many institutions. We love to see it! If they are so worried about liability, then chasing a parent with an infant in their arms is the opposite of safe.

JUST IN: Pittsburgh voters have approved a ballot that bans the city from privatizing the local water and sewers system. The measure passed by a very large margin. This was one of my guide of the main races to watch today: boltsmag.org/whats-on-the...

CDC platforms have stopped warning the public about disease spread. One of the CDC's main newsletters that alerts health professionals about outbreaks hasn't been sent since March. And most CDC social media accounts have gone over a month without posting their own new content.

Been telling people for months, Fin Aid won't be coming on time (if at all) in the Fall because of either incompetence and/or vindictiveness. Was pretty clear about this in a panel with @robertkelchen.com www.insidehighered.com/news/governm...

Which is the point
