Travelling to Churchill to attend a wedding, and to stand on the shores of Hudson Bay and glare, asserting Canada’s Arctic sovereignty.

They let me write about Satoshi Kon’s PARANOIA AGENT in the newspaper. www.winnipegfreepress.com/arts-and-lif...

My daughter has the action- movie bug all of a sudden after years of showing no interest. Today we watched PREDATORS, and when the bad Predator ripped out Walton Goggins’ spine and skull in one pull she clapped and said “Slay, bestie.” Pretty cool way to cap off Father’s Day, I gotta say.

Co-signed. My kingdom for a café/snack bar with a walk-up window so I can pop by while walking my dogs to get a treat.

favorite dumb comics thing is how some american guy doing too much coke in the 80s would invent a terrible superhero like "sandwich boy" as a joke and then some british guy doing too many sedatives in the 90s would be like "sandwich boy can create a 'reality sandwich' and is thus a living god"

oh my fucking god at last: the search for more money

Predator: Killer of Killers is quite good, the first two segments are great. I do nitpick using a WW2 aerial battle for the third fight because as far as I know the Yautja don’t go in for that sort of thing. But I’d sure like to see more!

Heavens to Murgatroyd.

I don't really think "manliness" as a definable thing exists anymore if it ever did. But insofar as it might exist, it sure doesn't take the form of being way up your own ass about your looks, especially to this degree.

I am devastated to hear this.

If you inherited a movie theatre, what’s your first double feature?

it's just too bad we will never solve the impenetrable mystery of who made grok obsessed with south african white genocide theory at 3:15 am

Trilogy of entirely vibes-based films adapting The Divine Comedy. Panos Cosmatos to direct, Ralph Fiennes as Vergil, Stanley Tucci as Dante. Practical effects/real sets as much as possible.

Chest & tri day complete.

After the vertical suplex in New Empire I want more grappling among the beasts. I want Kong to hit the tornado DDT on King Caesar. I want Godzilla to hurricanrana Gigan.

D&D night. Fighting a spider dragon with the power of kung fu. It’s not goin’ great.

The average Canadian has three friends.

I will powerbomb anyone I find talking to a damn chatbot at the movies.

It’s time! It’s time!

Bad night for guys whose whole personality is “angry flag on truck,” up here in Canada.

Even before the machine-gunning, when he pulled out that heavy-duty rifle I thought, oh here we go, headshots all day, baby.

Yes please.

Man, Sinners kicks ass.

Born of a Broken Man.

Movie you’ve watched more than six times using gifs. (“Hard mode” no Star Wars, Star Trek, or LOTR)

The pro-natalist couple believe their genes should not only continue but be prolific in future generations, and both of them look like they'd die if they ate a spoonful of medium salsa.

Issues with Maher aside, the problem with the "Hitler was uniquely evil" argument is that whilst he was unspeakably evil (obviously), he wasn't *uniquely* so. Leopold II, Andrew Jackson, Alexander Stephens, Henry the Navigator, Ferdinand and Isabella...all were just rebrands of the same depravity.

"What is Dark Woke?" is something a person infected with the Pontypool virus would say.

I still long for a Predator film where the protagonists are a group of aliens who find themselves being hunted by a combo of Yautja and humans in a future where the two are co-operating.

Spitting bars all the way to the end

Sure, you might have an awful personality, but is it “the Pope dies after having to talk to you,” bad?

Poaching.

Beautiful. Like an anxiety dream in which your idol tells you that you suck, but real and directed at one of the world’s worst people

BREAKING: I got into the brandy.

On this Saturday of Easter weekend I am compelled again to recommend @evandahm.bsky.social’s THE HARROWING OF HELL, a beautiful graphic novel depicting one of the most potent but least-discussed parts of the death/resurrection story. I read it every year about this time.
