New #popgen tools I found that use a likelihood method to mitigate small sample size problem when calculating IBD that can be great for #consgen purposes: www.nature.com/articles/s41... This has Windows implementation as well as Linux and Mac! Let me know if anyone has tried this :D

On NSF Grant Terminations- even if your termination letter says that you cannot appeal, there is a legal basis for you to appeal within 30 days in PPAPG www.nsf.gov/policies/pap... and in Uniform Guidance 200.340 www.ecfr.gov/current/titl.... Appeal and send a message!

I participated in @aibsbiology.bsky.social congressional visits day last week and I have hope for bipartisan support for science. But we need everyone who supports science to call/meet their reps and senators and ask for 9.9 billion for NSF and 7.5 billion for NOAA.

This is a great time for universities in the US to sign onto the fight for academic freedom with Harvard. Doing so would make any act to cancel grants at that school a clear act of retribution. Failing to do so would make that school an easy target. 🧪👨‍🔬
