GPs still can’t find jobs @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social You have not fixed this ARRS GP roles are not substantive jobs, they are not ‘Bringing back the Family Doctor’ Only funding GP practices will so this

No GP wants this, name another NHS service providing 20% more with 20% less funding, that gets as much flack & as little support This is the problem 1/9 people waiting for hospital treatment 500k more people long term sick 2300 patients per GP - 500 more than 2016 20% less £

On Tuesday, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt made a series of claims about the BBC's coverage of events in Gaza on Sunday. We've looked at the claims - and the number of misrepresentations and untruths that they contained. www.bbc.co.uk/news/videos/...

Interesting to see some impact form the Leng Review already coming into place. Someone on Reddit very kindly made transcripts and summarised the Q+A of Professor Lengs webinars around the subjects Interesting reading. #medsky

This is a very important step in improving safety It might seem trivial to change the name but the change from Physician Assistant to Physician Associate was driven by an idea of equivalence to a Doctor This has created confusion for patients & in some cases has lead to significant problems

UNEMPLOYED GPs by NHS England GP training posts up 4000pa Funding to GP practices cut 20% since 2016 (£2bn) NHSE introduced ARRS via PCNs (£1.7bn) with GP practices ‘given’ staff in alternative roles for ‘free’ GP practices with no money forced to accept ARRS cannot afford GPs #TeamGP #Medsky

Welcome news! It continues the post-2015 trend of correcting chronic under investment. "In the survey asking users about infrastructure quality, the UK ranked 27th in terms of overall perceived infrastructure quality, in the middle of OECD countries" (Zhang & Cheng, 2023). Maybe we can catch up?

The UK used to have short waiting lists There was once investment in infrastructure, doctors, nurses, hospitals Then something happened 15years ago It’s not been fixed in any way since

As a GP, I am not allowed to receive a pen or post-it note pad from a pharmaceutical company rep The Government banned them in case I was influenced to prescribe a certain medication This should also be banned @rthonwesstreeting.bsky.social unless you have a way to justify this?

Tony Blair & business leaders miss the point Healthcare is personal, reactive, relies on nuance, often the unsaid things, a look down, a ‘hmm’, a tear, leading a Nurse or Doctor to a diagnosis beyond the presenting symptoms Healthcare is not a product, it’s an art, with artists dealing with people

GP partnership model has been a cornerstone of English primary care since the NHS’s inception. Partners operate independent businesses that are contracted through NHS England, enabling tailored local services and continuity of care, though often through partners’ goodwill and unpaid overtime.

The UK is a relatively low tax economy This means the revenue raised by Government as a proportion of GDP has been low historically Less funding raised for infrastructure/healthcare/education etc A thread 🧵

Maybe put this on the front page of Telegraph and Daily…
