For some this may not appear of any significance… but for anyone from ED it’s a game changer… brand new pillows delivered to ED - is it a sign we are turning the corner for Emergency care in the UK? Or just luck?

Study on London 20 mph limits shows: - collisions ⬇️ 35% - casualties ⬇️ 36% - fatal/serious injuries ⬇️ 34% - child casualties ⬇️ 46% - child deaths ⬇️ 75% - walkers, cyclists, motorcyclists killed/seriously injured ⬇️ 28% etsc.eu/20mph-limits...

This is what a government can actually do… make difficult decisions that are at most an ‘inconvenience’ for some but actually reduce casualties on the roads. But sadly it’s hard to own the success while SM and some gutter politics use the inconvenience for political gain 🤦🏻‍♂️

If the Emergency Department is the safety net for all healthcare, Community Emergency Medicine is when we go fishing with that net to ensure everyone who needs our expertise has a fair chance of receiving it. #NationalCEMConference2025

Sunshine means busy days on the Wales @air-ambulance.bsky.social - at one point all 4 helicopters were in the air across Wales yesterday! Quite the mix of rural / urban environments we can cover in one day!

Happy 10th Birthday to EMRTS Wales 🎂 🚁 ! An amazing partnership between the NHS and the Wales @air-ambulance.bsky.social An amazing team, service and views over Wales too!

Surprise! This may have passed me by in the deluge of nhs memos. Summary seems to be make it notifiable then when we have a vaccine programme we can see the effectiveness - good news overall but obvs an admin burden in the meantime 🧐

Shut down the youth clubs. Sell off the playing fields. Put up "no ball games" signs. Make public places hostile to teenagers. Then: "Young people, eh? Always indoors looking at their phones."

I feel seen! (Just need to add the glasses and grey hair for full bore EM cons transformation!)

The #BritishSocialAttitudes survey asks the public for their opinion on different aspects of #NHS care. 📊 The 2024 findings on A&E are stark - just 12% said they were satisfied with the length of time it takes to be seen in A&E. Read more: buff.ly/I5vYtWs

Well. Here we are: The Atlantic has done something an awful lot like I thought they should. And it’s lead to them publishing the details they initially redacted: www.theatlantic.com/politics/arc...

This is as bad as you might expect or possibly worse - X isn’t just an echo chamber for the far right crazy, it’s actively silencing the sensible 🤦🏻‍♂️

As the conditions and responses become ever more complex and nuanced it seems a sensible option to offer a suite of measures for the ambulance response. Hopefully we can do the same for the ED ‘targets’ and have less blunt measures! www.bbc.com/news/article...

With this check, the United States purchased Alaska from Russia for $7.2m in 1866 What happens if they want it back & invade Alaska? Would the US be happy to exchange land for the prospect of peace? Or just like Ukraine would they fight to keep their land? www.archives.gov/milestone-do...

Thank you @london.gov.uk It may be unrelated, but my daughter's asthma has also improved massively in the last year. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

Slightly middle aged birthday gifts suggests the family think that I’m a coffee addict or drug dealer… or both? 😬 ☕️

When your "friend" mocks you and all the sacrifices you've made for them, perhaps they were never really your friend all along.

You can own the billionaires. You can fiddle social media algorithms. You can sit in the President’s chair. You can lie & truth twist as much as you like. But when you’re a bullying criminal coward sat next to a true hero and a statesman - who you really are is obvious.

As a trainee my inspiring boss reassuringly said ‘family comes first’ - I’ve tried to repeat her mantra to my trainees - despite it feeling quite counter cultural in the medical career culture Nice to hear BG echoing the sentiment in this quote open podcast - podcasts.apple.com/gb/podcast/t...

Heath leaders must act to reduce dangerous and unacceptable 12-hour pre-admission A&E stays as new data reveals last month saw the highest number of these types of waits ever recorded. Read RCEM's full response to the latest NHS England data here - tinyurl.com/yc6akd92

I can no longer receive a free pen from a drug rep in case there’s a conflict of interest - that’s fine I’ll survive… meanwhile in ‘Murica’…. 👀

It’s probably a protest that may not change the world or the Google bank balance but your default search engine is an easy change on the IPhone!

Too many people near end of life are forced to go to A&E - against their wishes - either because there's no medical care available to palliate their symptoms at home or they can't access limited hospice care is.gd/qcX3V3

This is grim… But not surprising and although the photos and harm occur in the community, ambulance bay… the solutions lie in the complex web of the back end of the hospital and community resources www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Usually appreciate being slightly slower and closer to the ground but the views over Cardiff and above the clouds are still epic!

Drill baby drill 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

When you ask yourself how we got here, just remember this photo.

Welsh Labour took a lot of flak for this but they were right "The number of people hurt fell by 28% compared with the same period the year before, with ten fewer dead "The number of casualties was also the lowest for the three month-period since records began in 1979" www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...
